In Mario Kart World, you can dodge the blue shell by using a Super Horn or a Mushroom. Learn how to dodge the Blue Shell and discover its effects, uses, and more in this guide.

A Super Horn produces a wave that destroys any items or destructible obstacles, and this includes Blue Shells that are coming your way. So if an opponent throws a Blue Shell, use a Super Horn to destroy it.
Items that provide invulnerability, such as the Super Star and Boo, can be used to mitigate the effects of the blue shell.
While these items may be hard to come by due to their appearance being limited to lower rankings, consider holding onto them if you're confident that you can take the lead without using too many items.
You can sacrifice the Mushroom to block a Blue Shell by timing its usage correctly. The blue shell animation begins by spinning a few times before descending on you and exploding. To dodge it and prevent the explosion, press the item button as it descends.
Correct execution of this task will require precise timing, which may necessitate multiple attempts to master.
Dash Mushroom Item Effect
Press down on the directional pad when the animation starts to use the Rewind feature and dodge the blue shell explosion. Although this is better than going in reverse because you keep your momentum, it can only be used in single-player mode.
How to Rewind
Since the Blue Shell prioritizes the player in first place, you may want to give up your lead if you notice that one of the players behind you is carrying a Blue Shell and there are multiple players close to you.
Note that this only works if the blue shell hasn't locked onto you yet. In that case, you can use the reverse method.

The Blue Shell will track the player in first place and disable them upon impact. Any enemies caught in its path will be knocked down, but the Blue Shell will only stop once it reaches its intended target.
Similar to the other shells, Blue Shell can be thrown backwards by tilting the joystick backwards when using the item. Note though that the Blue Shell does not track enemies when thrown backwards.
Like most shell items, the blue shell will automatically attach itself to the back of your vehicle, serving as protection from other items. However, with the inherent power that the blue shell possess, it isn't the best use for this item and you should only resort to doing it if you're certain that you don't need to use it offensively.
Blue Shell is a powerful item that can instantly slow enemies down. With this in mind, this item will most likely appear at lower ranks.
