How to Jump

How to Jump

This is a guide on how to perform a jump and get a speed boost in Mario Kart World. Learn how to Jump, and what it's uses are in this guide.

How to Jump

Press R to Jump

To jump, tap the R button just before the edge of a ledge, or a ramp. This provides a speed boost for a short duration upon landing. This requires some timing, but the window to make the jump is quite forgiving, so players wouldn't take a long time to get used to making the required jumps on tracks.

You Can Jump off Walls and Rails

You can end wall and rail rides by pressing the jump button while moving the directional stick in the desired direction. If the environment allows, you can perform rail rides and wall rides by jumping to them quickly, which allows you to maneuver in the air.

How to Wall Ride

Jump Uses

Perform Jumps for Speed Boosts

Performing jumps gives your kart a speed boost upon landing, which lasts for a short duration. The more jumps you perform, the more speed boosts you receive. Performing multiple jumps throughout a race adds up and allows you to achieve better lap times.

You can also perform a drift upon landing after a jump. This allows you to maintain your momentum and charge up a mini-turbo.

Chain Jumps to Maneuver Through the Track

Since you can jump and perform the new techniques one after another, you can use jumps to chain techniques together and reach places you normally couldn't. This can be quite beneficial and is sometimes the optimal route for a track.
