The secret Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World can be unlocked by obtaining various Free Roam collectibles, completing all Grand Prix, Knockout Tours, and the hidden Special Cup. Learn how to unlock Mirror Mode, what game modes you can play it in, and what it is in this guide.
| Confirmed Mirror Mode Unlock Conditions |
|---|
Note: These are the main conditions we have confirmed. However, there may still be hidden conditions. If Mirror Mode does not unlock, try collecting more outfits, coins, or completing additional races before clearing the Special Cup again. |
| Collectibles | Description |
|---|---|
![]() P Switches |
Bright blue buttons that stick out from the ground, each with a challenge when activated. |
![]() Peach Medallions |
Giant golden medallions found in tricky spots to get to. |
![]() Question Panels |
Hidden flat panels that activate when you drive over them. |
The first condition to unlock Mirror mode is to complete 10 P Switch missions, obtain 10 Peach Medallions, and activate 10 Question Panels in Free Roam. These Free Roam collectibles can be found throughout the map.
Free Roam Map and Collectibles

The next condition is to clear all 7 Grand Prix and 8 Knockout Tours at the 150cc speed. You don't have to complete these with trophies or with stars–clearing them in any ranking will suffice.

The final step to unlock mirror mode is to clear the Special Cup on 150cc. If you've completed it before meeting the previous requirements, you'll have to complete it again for the special cutscene to play and unlock the mode.
| Step | Directions |
|---|---|
| 1 |
![]() Teleport to Peach Stadium in Free Roam. |
| 2 |
![]() Continue through the course until you reach the green warp pipe. |
| 3 |
![]() Drop down to the castle roof. |
| 4 |
![]() Enter the stained glass depicting Peach to enter the mirrored Free Roam map. |
Once you unlock Mirror Mode, there's a secret way to access the whole Free Roam map in Mirror Mode where everything is flipped! To do so, you'll have to pass through the stained glass on top of the castle in Peach Stadium while in Free Roam. A short cutscene will play, after which the entire world will be in mirror mode.
Free Roam Mode Guide and How to Start

You can select Mirror Mode during the Grand Prix speed class selection. In this mode, the track, map, and indicators will all be mirrored. Stars you earned from playing well in Grand Prix's Mirror Mode allows you to earn stars for 150cc and below.
Grand Prix Guide and How to Win
The all-new Knockout Tour will also be playable in Mirror Mode, which adds an extra layer of difficulty to an already challenging mode. The Mirror Mode Knockout Tour will be available in offline and online multiplayer modes.
Similar to mirrored Grand Prix races, earning stars in a Mirror Mode Knockout Tour will earn you stars in lower difficulty levels.
Knockout Tour Guide and How to Win
If you want to play with friends in private matches, you can play Mirror Mode in VS Races in both offline and online modes by changing the Class settings to Mirror.

Playing in Mirror Mode allows you to play a mirrored version of each course, with the whole track flipped horizontally. This makes right turns go left and vice versa, making it challenging for players who have the normal tracks memorized.

Mirror Mode is an additional difficulty above 150cc where you play mirrored versions of all the courses while all players' engine classes are set to 150cc. While you can earn additional trophies and stars by playing Mirror Mode on Grand Prix and Knockout Tour, there are no additional rewards for doing so.
There are no known rewards for completing Mirror Mode in Grand Prix Cups or Knockout Tour even if you perform well and get the three-star trophies for every difficulty.

Just an update on what I just posted it seems like Special Cup DOES have to be done again but HAS to be 150cc. I thought I could save time and stress by doing it on 50cc even though I already done it on 150cc but you can't it must 150cc.

Costumes and characters don't seem to matter for it. I have all of them unlocked and still didn't get mirror mode.
