Mario Kart World - How to Add Friends

You can add friends by sending or receiving friend codes and play with them by creating or joining a group, but you can't play with them online in Mario Kart World! Learn how to add friends and play with your friends here!

Send a Friend Code

Step Directions

Mario Kart World - Home Screen Icon
On the Switch 2 Home Screen, select your icon, which you can find at the top-left corner of the screen.

Mario Kart World - Friend Code
Check your Friend Code in your profile then share it with your friends.

Mario Kart World - New Friend Request
A notification will pop-up when you receive a friend request, so go to the Add Friend tab to check and select You Have a Friend Request.

Mario Kart World - Become Friends
Afterward, select your friend's icon. Then, select Become Friends to accept your friend's request.

One way to add friends is to send them a friend code that they can search for!

Receive a Friend Code

From the Add Friend tab, select Search with Friend Code.

Mario Kart World - Enter Friend Code
Enter your friend's Friend Code to send them a friend request.

Mario Kart World - Friend Request Sent
A message will appear that you successfully sent a friend request.

Alternatively, you can receive a friend code from your friends so that you can search for and add them!

Create Room

In the Mario Kart World main menu, select Online Play.

Mario Kart World - Select Friends
Select the Friends option.

Mario Kart World - Create Room
Select Create Room at the top of the screen.

Mario Kart World - View Room Info
Select View Room Info to make the Room ID appear.

Mario Kart World - Room ID
Share the ID with your friends so they can join your game.

Mario Kart World - Start Game
Once your friends join your room, you can start the game!

You can create your own room that your friends can join so that you can play together!

In the Mario Kart World main menu, select Online Play.

Mario Kart World - Select Friends
Select the Friends option.

Mario Kart World - Search by Room ID
Select Search by Room ID at the top of the screen.

Mario Kart World - Enter Room ID
Enter the room ID that your friend sent you to join their room.

Mario Kart World - Wait to Start
Wait for your friend to start the game and get ready to race!

You can also search for rooms that your friends make to join them instead!

Can You Play Online With Friends?

While this feature was in the previous game, you cannot match with friends then play against other random players in Mario Kart World using the Create Room or Search by Room ID option.

If you want to play with friends against other players, then you could either get randomly matched with your friends or play with them against the CPU!
