You can play with up to four friends in Mario Kart World's split-screen multiplayer. This means you would only need one console and one copy of the game.

Enjoy the Local Wireless Mode with a maximum of eight people. For this to be possible, you would need one copy of the game per console, with a max of two people per console.

You can race up to 24 players from all over the world in the game's Online Mode! Note that you can only play online if you have Nintendo Online which is a paid subscription.
