Alternate outfits can be unlocked by exploring Yoshi's Diners and obtaining Dash Food during free roam. Pass through the drive-thru to get Dash Food, and get a custom outfit inspired by your meal as an additional reward! You can also get Dash Food from Dash Food Trucks in Free Roam.

How to Get Characters

Unlocked By Default

Mario Kart World - Unlock Characters By Default
Some characters are unlocked by default and they're the racers you start with in the game.

Unlock Using The Kamek Item

You can unlock characters when you get hit by the new Kamek item inside a race. Once you get hit, you will transform into a different character and unlock that character you transformed into.

Kamek usually appears around the 4th to 10th ranking in a race, so you can try placing behind to have a better chance of getting it.

Complete Cups and Rallies

Mario Kart World - Complete Cups and Rallies

In Mario Kart World, you can also unlock characters by completing cups and rallies. Once you clear a Cup, you will unlock its corresponding character! The CC or placement does not matter for this and you'll still unlock the character as long as you finish the Cup.

Mario Kart World has 50 playable characters, most of which are returning characters from previous games. Most of them are available at the start of the game. Some of them are unlocked from the Kamek Item while the others are unlocked through the Cups.

Characters in Mario Kart World have different weight classes that are determined by their Weight stat. This can influence how a character drives or performs in a race, in addition to the vehicle they're using.

For example, Heavyweight characters have more speed but are harder to control while Lightweight characters are easier to control and have higher acceleration.
