A small update was released on June 25, 2025, changing how the “Random” track selection works in online VS Races. This option now also a has a good chance of choosing an intermission-track from the previously played course to a connected one.

Mario Kart World launched as a Day 1 title for the Nintendo Switch 2, with both the game and console released globally on June 5, 2025. Anyone with a Switch 2 and a copy of the game will be able to play solo, with friends locally, or with players around the world online!

Head to official stores and the official Nintendo Site to pre-order Mario Kart World. There are also pre-order bonuses that are only available in Japan, such as pins, hologram stickers, and more! Since they have limited stocks, it's best to get a copy as soon as you can.

Unfortunately, Mario Kart World is not available for the Nintendo Switch console, and will be exclusive to the new Nintendo Switch 2 console. If you're planning on getting the console and a copy of the game, consider getting the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle for the best value.
