| Effect | For a while, each press of the L Button throws an ice ball. Karts hit by an ice ball will freeze and slow down. |

Enemies hit by the Ice Flower will spin out of control for a short time before slowing down. This is great for slowing down opponents and giving you enough time to pass them if you manage to hit them with the Ice Flower. A slow effect that tapers off over time will also affect them, making it harder for them to recover.
You can shoot projectiles until the item expires which begins as soon as you press the item button. The duration is shortened with each projectile fired, so try to make the most out of it.
The entire duration of the Ice Flower can be seen by the color of the icon, which slowly changes over time. Players can easily track the remaining duration based on the icon, which allows them to make better decisions.

You can continuously throw a barrage of projectiles for the entire duration of the Ice Flower ability. Multiple enemies can be hit at a time, allowing you to easily pass through a large crowd.
Due to its high fire rate ,you can overwhelm opponents with defensive options by firing a large number of projectiles. While they could block a single projectile with another item, enemies without invincibility items, such as the Super Star, will simply get overwhelmed because they have no way to deal with them all.
Like most items, the Ice Flower can be fired backward by tilting the left stick down. With its unique ability to fire multiple projectiles, the Ice Flower is an excellent defensive tool. This allows you to defend yourself from various projectiles, such as green or red shells, with a single use of the item.
Since opponents using this item can launch multiple projectiles, single-use items such as shells may not suffice for blocking all ice flower projectiles. Try using other opponents as cover to avoid getting hit.
