This builds covers all strengths and weaknesses of each gear and helps you deal high damage while having multiple options to defend or avoid enemy attacks aross all gear. You can do the Looming Slash weapon forma to avoid the enemy attack and deal damage afterwards, the Reaper Jail's deflect during its startup animation, and the Bleeding Shield's capability to completely block physical damage.

The only downside of this build is the lack of defense against elemental attacks and status ailments. Most of these can be obtained by progressing until the Sunken City, especially Josee's Blood Code.

Josee's Blood Code has high Strength, Dexterity, and Mind attributes that complement almost any weapon, especially the Ame-no-Habakiri, since that weapon scales with all three of those attributes.

The unique trait of Josee's Blood Code is that it allows you to gain ichor from weapon attacks, but the downside is that any excess ichor you gain will deal damage to you. So make sure you're constantly using weapon formae to spend ichor.

The Ame-no-Habakiri is a one-handed sword with a high base damage, dealing both physical and blood-type damage. It scales from three attributes: Strength, Dexterity, and Mind, so having high values for those three will increase this weapon's attack. The only downside is that this weapon is exclusive to owners of the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the game.

Carmilla's Thorn is a great alternative option for players with the standard edition. It deals almost the same damage as the Ame-no-Habakiri, and it comes with the Overdrive weapon forma to boost your attacks. You can also add the Adrenaline weapon Forma to stack these attack buffs for higher damage. The caveat is that getting hit (even with your shield up) will end Overdrive's effect. It also has the Secret Art - Forestall that can hit targets from midrange, giving you an option to chip damage from a small distance.

The Ame-no-Habakiri comes equipped with Looming Slash, a great weapon forma that negates enemy attacks that hit you at the start of the animation. You can also equip the Phantom Assault weapon forma, since it basically does the same thing, except this one lunges toward enemies instead of performing an uppercut slash. This pairs exceptionally well with Josee's Blood Code trait where you gain ichor from weapon attack, and you'll be forced to use these formae to avoid getting excess ichor.

For the boosters, equip the Strength, Dexterity, and Mind boosters to increase your attributes by 2, which directly affects the weapon's damage.

Reaper Jail for Parrying Attacks

The Reaper Jail gives you the option to parry enemy attacks during its startup animation. Most of the time, you can safely charge your Drain Attack after a successful deflect, since the enemy will be staggered for a moment, giving you enough time to charge your Reaper for more damage.

The Bleeding Shield (Light) can negate an enemy's physical attack if your guard is up, but it still costs stamina when you get hit, so try to use it only in certain situations. You can also attempt a perfect guard, where you block at the moment an attack hits you to reduce the stamina lost.

Battle Axe: Idris's Conceit provides AoE damage, which makes up for your build's lack of a wide-area attack. It also builds up the Slow status ailment, which is helpful for controlling the battlefield.
