Best Early One-Handed Sword

Strong Innate Combat Formae Available at the Start of the Game Deluxe Edition Exclusive Weapon Self-Damaging Innate Formae

Ame-no-Habakiri is the best one-handed sword you can get that will help you in the early parts of the game. It has a Combat Formae called, Looming Slash, that makes you invulnerable at the start of the skill animation before you jump and deal damage. Avoid using another of its innate Formae called, Sacrificial Edge, as it is a buff that boosts your attack but at the cost of your HP.

Since this weapon is exclusive only for Deluxe Edition, you can use Carmilla's Thorn as an alternative which has a much higher stat scaling.

Best Early Two-Handed Sword

High Strength Scaling Has Access to an Attack Buff Combat Formae Capable of Staggering Enemies Slow Attack Windup

If you are aiming for the best early two-handed sword, then Ancient Hunter's Greatsword is the best one to get. It is the second most powerful weapon type you can obtain early on as long as you have the patience to wait for the right moment to attack and use Coffin Breaker twice to deal a lot of damage.

You also have early access to Adrenaline that further boost your attack giving this weapon more damage against enemies for a period of time

Fast Attacks Has Access to a Defensive Buff Low Damage High Risk Combat Formae

One fo the VK lineup of weapons that you can get is VK Dual Blades which is the best twin blades early in the game. Aside from fast low-damage attacks, this weapon has an innate Formae called, Iron Will, that increases your defense making your character take less damage.

Best Early Bayonet

High AoE Damage Close Range Combat Formae That Does Not Consume Ammo Limited Ammo Count Per Fight Low Attack Range

The best bayonet you can get early is Silver Shot which is a shotgun-type bayonet capable of dealing high AoE damage in a short range. You are limited by the amount of ammo you have in your inventory but each shot packs a punch so use it wisely so make sure to buy ammo. Since this bayonet is a shotgun type, enemies that are further away from your character will take less damage.

Best Early Halberd

High AoE Damage Has Access to an Attack Buff High Risk Combat Formae Slow Attack Windup

One of the earliest Halberd you can get is Ancient Hunter's Halberd that has a decent strength and dexterity scaling. The patterns for Halberd consists of attacks that revolves around your character which is useful against swarms of enemies. You also have access to Adrenaline making your attacks stronger for a duration.

This weapon also has the Combat Formae, Mad Turbulence, that plants your character in the ground while dealing damage. This is a high risk formae that leaves your character vulnerable to attacks for the duration of the animation.

Best Early Hammer

High Base Damage Has Access to an Attack Buff Can Easily Stagger Enemies Slowest Attack Windup

The earliest hammer you can get is Ancient Hunter's Hammer which is also the best hammer to use before the first boss. You have access to Adrenaline which makes your attacks deal even more damage.

This weapon also has a Combat Formae called, Gaia Impact that deals AoE damage around you that can also stagger enemies. Make sure to time your attacks because this weapon type has the slowest attack windup in the game.

Best Early Rune Blades

Constant Single-Target Formae Damage Has Access to a Defense Buff Barehanded After Using Combat Formae Relies Heavily on Magic Formaes

The best rune blades you can access early on in the game is Ancient Hunter's Rune Blades. It has a Combat Formae called, Stalking Sabre, where you throw out your rune blades to deal constant damage to a single enemy but leaves you for a brief period with only your fists. You also have access to Iron Will, which makes getting up close to enemies much safer because this increases your defense.

Rune Blades are best used when you have a second weapon in hand especially after using a Combat Formae. Make sure to unlock the ability to slot in a second weapon as soon as possible to get the most out of this weapon type.

If you ever want to go Dexterity One-Handed Sword build, your best choice is Blade of Tenacity: Thunderstrike which can be obtained exclusively after you max the affinity for Lyle and trade it. It will always come with 4 Formaes already attached to it and it can naturally deal lightning damage without needing to transform or use a salve for it.

Best Two-Handed Sword

Cultist's Ritual Blade is the best two-handed sword you can get because of its early availability and having the high strength scaling. However, this weapon cannot be easily obtained as it can only be dropped by a specific enemy found in Sunken Pylon held by a Greatsword-Wielding giant enemy.

Obliterator Axe is the best halberd you can easily get by purchasing it from Jadwiga's Minion inside Sealing Spire. It has the highest strength scaling for halberds in exchange for high strength burden.
