Overburdened Benefits and Penalties Guide

Overburden is caused by the total Burden from equipped gear exceed your stats, but gives benefit and penalty effects in Code Vein 2. Check out the full list of effects for each Overburdened stat, as well as how it works in this guide!

Stats	Benefits	Penalties
Strength	Increases the power of close-range attacks.	Additional stamina is consumed whenever one of your attacks misses.
Dexterity	Absorb more ichor from draining.	Getting hit causes your ichor to decrease.
Mind	Increases maximum ichor.	During combat, your suffer constant LP/HP damage whenever you don't have a buff originating from a forma on you.
Willpower	Increases the attack power of formae.	Your attack power decreases temporarily whenever a forma fails to activate because of insufficient ichor.
Vitality	Increases the amount recovered by regeneration.	When you LP falls below a set value, your mobility is reduced.
Fortitude	Recover stamina when you avoid an enemy's attack via the invincibility from evading.	When your stamina is depleted, you suffer the Inhibit status ailment.

All penalties become more severe as your penalty level increases, so be sure to balance the Burden from your equipped Gear if you plan to take advantage of its Benefits.

How Does Overburden Work?

Occurs When the Total Burden Exceeds Your Stats

Strength		Status
Character Stats	Total Burden from Gear	Overburdened
15	20	Overburdened

Overburden occurs whenever the total Burden from all of your equipped gear (Jails, Weapons, etc.) exceeds your current stats. For example, if you have 15 Strength but the total Strength Burden from all equipped gear is 20, you become Overburdened. Each Overburdened stat has associated Benefits and Penalties, which you can use to your advantage if you are able to work around the Penalty effects.

An Overburdened stat is identified by the highlighted red arrows below the respective stat. Keep in mind the Overburdened stats you possess so you know which Benefits and Penalties you currently have and can take them into account during fights.

Directly Affects Dodge Effectiveness

If your character is Overburdened in two or more stats, your dodge becomes less effective, turning into a heavy roll instead of a normal roll. If the Burden for all attributes is less than half, your dodges become quick steps, making them the fastest evasive maneuver.
