Lou's Blood Code is the ideal Blood Code to use for Camilla's Thorn as we'll be utilizing its decent Dex stat and Mind margin to utilize multiple buffs to maximize our poke attacks from our charged heavy attacks.

We'll be able to activate Superbia Bloodline: Lou 4's Mind Margin 14 for the drain attack power buff with this setup for a triple damage buff simultaneously. Dexterity Booster - Overload is also mandatory to avoid getting overburdened in Dexterity as we don't want to lose Ichor when getting hit.
With our full setup, we'll be ending up with 18 Dexterity which is perfectly aligned with the build. Bloodrune is also a default weapon with a high mind cost but it will still be enough to give us 14 mind margin. It's our secondary weapon of choice due to its 11 conversion stat which can house 3 supportive buffs you can use on boss fights.

The best Blood Code to equip early on is the Superbia Bloodline: Lou 4 where it gives us enough Dexterity to wield Carmilla's Thorn and also have enough Mind margin for extra damage buffs after using our Jail. With our change to Stinger, landing drain attacks is much easier due to its speed which makes this buff easy to reactivate when needed.

Bloodsucking Blades

|||
Carmilla's Thorn is one of the earliest one-handed weapons you can purchase from Jadwiga. It has a high Dexterity Scaling so Blood Codes with high Dexterity fits the weapon's scaling. It also comes with Overdrive which is perfect for a hit-and run playstyle as its a damage buff that only disappears after getting hit. We'll want to slot in another support forma into it, one we'll use more often than other buffs as it'll be our main fighting weapon and 2 offensive forma that you prefer to use during combat.
For our secondary weapon, Bloodrune is a great early game runeblade that has 11 conversion stat. It comes with Bloodsucking Blades which you can use but even with it, we'll have 9 conversion stat left which is perfect for 3 buffs that persists for a long time. Use the buffs slapped into Bloodrune before any major fights to maximize your damage output.
| Jail | Effects |
|---|---|
Stinger
|
・Fast ranged drain attack ・Charged drain attack can knock down enemies for a quick breather. |
For our jail, we'll switch over to Stinger once we gain access to it. It strikes the perfect balance of range and speed which we both need to activate Lou's drain attack trait. Add that to the plethora of buffs we already have and we'll be hitting for big damage for every single use of our charged attack.
List of All Jails
| Formae Setup (Early Game) | |
|---|---|
Bloodreaver Blade
(Offensive) |
Mutinous Bracer
(Defensive) |
The best bequeathed formae you can get early on is Bloodreaver Blade. Since our main source of damage are charged attacks, we'll be able to stagger enemies more often. You can use these openings to land a perfectly timed Bloodreaver Blade hit to deal a big burst of damage.
For our defensive option, Mutinous Bracer is the best option as it provides us a deflection action against aggressive enemies.
| Booster | Condition and Trait |
|---|---|
Blood-Fueled Strike
|
Condition:
No Overburden Effect
・ Attack Power Up for Next Attack After Drain Attack |
Dexterity Booster - Overload
|
Condition:
No Conditions
・ Dexterity +5 |
| Charged Balance | Condition:
No Overburden Effect
・ Increased Disruption Resistance During Charge Attacks |
The best and only boosters you can use early on for this build is Dexterity Booster which amps our damage a bit and help alleviate Dexterity Burden effects in the build.
| Partner | Traits |
|---|---|
Lou MagMell
|
Link Traits:
・Ichor recovery when hit Partner Trait Bonuses: ・Mind +2 ・Damage to Slowed Enemies Up ・Guard Stamina Cost Down While Prismatic Veil Active |
Lou will be our partner of choice due to its mind trait bonus. This will give us the +2 mind that we'll need to maintain our mind margin with our Bloodrune.
Without the charge time, the Carmilla's Thorn's heavy attack actually takes longer to complete compared to its charged attack version. The best way to play the weapon is by using its charged attack to poke enemies to deal damage and stagger them in the process.
Carmilla's Thorn comes with Overdrive Weapon Formae that grants you a damage buff until you get hit. WIth our poke-playstyle, your character won't be hit easily as enemies will be chasing you while you have a parry from reaper and staggering them with charged attacks.
You'll also partner this with Adrenaline and your blood code's damage amp from using your drain attack which results in a 47% damage increase!
