+Def/-Spd

Quan's best IVs are +Def and -Spd. He specializes in Def so taking a +Def IV will benefit him well. His Spd is very unreliable so it is not that important for him so it is safe to take it as his bane. Additionally, his Def is a superboon so you should take advantage of it as much as possible.

+Def for a +10 Merge Project

If you are trying to build a +10 Merge Masquerade Quan, +Def is the best IV. This is for the same reasons as above. You should maximize his potential as a defensive wall as much as possible.

How to Use, Explanation

If Masquerade Quan picks up Iote's Shield in the S slot, he eliminates much of the threat bow users have against him. This means that he can be very tanky against all physical units. The rest of his kit allows him to effectively trade damage against foes. For the A slot, you can get Distant Counter if you need wide coverage and Distant Foil if you plan for Quan to take more specific matchups.

Masquerade Quan is a ranged physical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Masquerade Quan Strengths

Refresher-assist unit with the benefits of flying movement

Masquerade Quan is a flying unit with an assist skill that grants an additional action. As flying units are not restricted in movement by terrains such as forests and rivers, flying units with refresher assists make wonderful support units. Additionally, he has access to Flier Formation 3 in his base kit which grants him even more mobility in an all-flier team. His high utility makes him a great option as a support unit in an all-flier team.

Damage reduction against follow-up attacks

As long as Quan's HP is at least 50%, Courtly Bow+ grants him +5 Atk/Def and reduces the damage from the enemy's first attack by 50% if they are able to score a follow-up attack on Masquerade Quan.

Balanced offenses and defenses

Courtly Bow+, Atk/Def Bond 4 and Joint Hone Def combine for a massive +12 Atk +17 Def for Masquerade Quan. This allows him to stand his ground against physical units, except most bow units of course because of his flying mobility. This grants Quan more versatility as you can have him shoot down other units if refreshing an ally is not the best option.

Joint Hone Def also grants +5 to the unit who is adjacent to Quan! Atk/Def Bond 4 and Joint Hone Def can easily be triggered in all-flying teams because of Flier Formation 3.

Masquerade Quan Weaknesses

Low Spd and Res

Quan's Spd and Res sit at 20 and 20 respectively. This makes him very vulnerable magical units. Use his flying mobility to keep him away from units that can easily take him out.

Weak to bows

As a flying unit, Masquerade Quan takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.
