Neutral IVs by default!

As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Michalis will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Atk/-Res

The best IVs for Michalis are +Atk and -Res. A specially refined Hauteclere hits very hard and allows him to specialize in being a one-hit knock-out artist so a +Atk IV is very helpful in making sure his firepower is enough to take a foe down. His Res is very low and is of less importance so it is safe to take it as a bane.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Michalis to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. Landing a special attack with a specially refined Hauteclere is enough to take most units down.

How to Use, Explanation

Lots of Summoners won't prefer Fort. Def/Res in the A or S slot. So you can always replace them with other skills such as Stance skills. However, Michalis can afford the drop in Atk since he depends on the special effect ref. of Hauteclere to deal damage. Additionally, the rapid activations of his Special thanks to his weapon and Quick Riposte 3 will leverage the monstrous Def stat Fort. Def/Res will give him as Ignis leverages Def for damage. The main idea for a Michalis build is here, you can of course replace and substitute skills as you please (Stance skills for example, if you want him to focus purely on the enemy phase).

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Hautclere

Upon special effect refinement, Hautclere deals +10 pure damage whenever Michalis lands a special attack. Because Hautclere's primary effect is to accelerate Michalis' special trigger, the +10 pure damage will land on enemy teams very consistently. As pure damage, it cannot be reduced through defensive stats such as Def or Res. We recommend getting Ignis as it will only have a cooldown of 3 under Hautclere. Ignis leverages Michalis' strong Def stat and converts it into damage. Once Ignis is active, try sending out Michalis to a priority target because odds are, they will not survive a Hautclere-boosted Ignis from Michalis.

Michalis is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Michalis Strengths

Can be used as a physical tank

Michalis boasts a good Def stat. Additionally, his A skill neutralizes damage taken from bow units so he can definitely wall a lot of physical units with his base kit. Just make sure to position him strategically in relation to red enemies.

He can still definitely wall with other A skills such as Fort. Def/Res 3. Check out the [builds section] to learn more! This build maximizes his defenses and relies on a specially refined Hautclere, Ignis, and Michalis huge Def stat to deal damage.

Blazing Thunder

Blazing Thunder deals fixed damage to a fair range. It is a great special in maps that have straight paths. It is strong against enemies that have high defenses as it deals fixed damage regardless of Res or Def. A lot of strategy can be put into using Michalis's Blazing Thunder. You will be surprised at its true potential when used correctly.

Can nullify enemy's effective against flying skills

With his default A skill Iote's Shield, Michalis can neutralize the effects of skills effective on flying. As a flying unit, Michalis would normally take 1.5x damage from foes with weapons that are effective on flying, but this skill will let him supress that damage to the regular amount of 1x.

Michalis Weaknesses

Vulnerable to follow-up attacks

Michalis does not rely on Spd for damage, but he hopes that his Spd can be relied upon to protect him from follow-up attacks. Unfortunately, this is not the case most of the time. We recommend building him around allies that possess skills such as Hone Fliers, Goad Fliers or Hone Spd 4 to make him bulkier. These skills might not be enough to allow him to land follow-up attacks, but it definitely helps in protecting him from hostile follow-ups.

Low Res

Michalis' Res only sits at 19 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for magic users to take him out. Be mindful of Michalis' positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take him out.

Weak to bows if Iote's Shield is not equipped

As a flying unit, Michalis takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.

Of course, Iote's Shield neutralizes the effective damage, but most of the time we recommend that you get another skill for his A slot.

Obtain through a Grand Hero Battle

Michalis is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
