Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Spd/-HP

The best IVs for New Year Soren are +Spd and -HP. A higher Spd stat allows Soren to get a ton of follow-up attacks on his foes. It also protects him from hostile follow-up attacks. It also helps him trigger Watersweep 3 as said skill requires him to have high Spd levels. His defense stats are of less importance but because his Def and Res are superbanes, it is wiser to take a bane in HP instead.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Soren to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, he will reach 40 Spd which is at a level wherein he can score follow-up attacks if he has ample support from allies. If you prefer a one-shot Soren, you can go for a +Atk IV instead.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Wind's Brand

In addition to a built-in effect identical to Chill Atk 3, if specially refined, Wind's Brand gets an effect similar to Owl tomes.

With it, Soren can get huge stat boosts depending on the number of allies he is adjacent to. On common circumstances, he can get +6 to all stats which of course significantly improves his overall performance. His offenses and defenses will be improved and if you choose to run Watersweep, your chances of blocking counterattacks is significantly raised too!

Soren is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Soren Strengths

Debuff a Strong Offensive Unit on Enemy Team

Wind's Brand grants an effect identical to Chill Atk 3. It inflicts -7 Atk on the enemy unit with the highest Atk stat. This is very important as it decreases the damage of one of the most powerful attackers on the opposite team. However, the debuff only lasts until their next action, so if they are granted another action through Galeforce or a refresher-assist skill, the debuff will cease and they can attack without the -7 Atk.

Another quirk of Chill Atk 3 is that it affects the enemy unit regardless of where Soren is.

Huge stat boost that depends on positioning!

Wind's Brand can be specially refined to get access to an effect that grants Soren stats depending on the number of allies adjacent to him. This means that with positioning, you can get a +6 Atk/Spd/Def/Res boost to Soren. An all-stat boost significantly improves his overall performance so if Soren is your main offensive unit, pay attention to his positioning in relation to allied units.

Watersweep blocks counterattacks!

Watersweep blocks the ability of Soren to land follow-up attacks. However, if he is against magic units and his Spd higher than his foe's, they cannot counterattack. This is why you have the option to build Soren as a one-hit artist that can take out enemies without receiving counterattacks.

He will be pretty similar to a Firesweep unit, but without the ability to land follow-up attacks. Depend on getting a high Atk stat to take out foes! A high Atk stat can easily be obtained through his special effect refine and some investment.

Growing Wind deals fixed damage to a wide range around the target. It is a great special in maps that have clumped up enemies like Rival Domains. It is strong against enemies that have high defenses, as it deals fixed damage regardless of Res or Def (although some skills reduce the damage taken from AoE skills). A lot of strategy can be put into using Soren's Growing Wind. You will be surprised at its true potential when used correctly.

Because Soren has decent Spd, he can activate this very frequently with follow-up attacks.

Soren Weaknesses

Low Def

Soren's Def only sits at 17 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for physical units to take him out. Be mindful of Soren's positioning in relation to physical units that can easily take him out.
