Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Spd/-Def

The best IVs for Sonya are +Spd and -Def. Sonya has ways to increase her Atk stat and she possesses HUGE Raw Damage from Dark Excalibur's effect. Because of this, it is better to improve her Spd to get follow-up attacks that increase her overall damage, speeds-up her special activations and utilizes her high Atk stat! Her Def is very low and is of les importance so it is safe to take as her bane.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Sonya to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, she will reach 38 Spd. It is quite below average especially at max merges, but if you are able to support her with allied buffs and some skills, she can consistenly nail follow-up attacks at this range.

If you are going for the Special Spiral Sonya build, go for a +Atk IV instead.

How to Use, Explanation

This build aims to repeatedly activate Blazing Wind to whittle down and eliminate opponents. Life and Death and Odd Atk Wave maximize Sonya's visible Atk stat to inflict the most AoE damage possible.

Desperation Sonya

How to Use, Explanation

This build uses the recoil from Fury 4 to activate Desperation and allow consecutive attacks for future engagements. Make sure to keep the unit alive after the first combat since they will be in exploitable HP ranges! Darting Blow 3 and Joint Drive Spd is taken to help secure the follow-up attack.

Special Spiral Sonya

How to Use, Explanation

This build pre-charges Glimmer with refined Dark Excalibur and keeps it active at all times through Special Spiral. Double Death Blow and Joint Drive Atk maximize Sonya's damage output.

Dark Excalibur's refine reduces the cooldown of Sonya's Special by 2 at the start of Turn 1.

This means if she has a short cooldown Special like Moonbow or Ruptured Sky, she will immediately have it available.

With Special Spiral 3, she will always have her Special up and will be able to deal a lot of damage when she initiates combat.

Sonya is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Sonya Strengths

Dark Excalibur is a high-powered weapon skill that has access to a special refine!

Dark Excalibur is a high-power weapon that adds +10 pure damage when Sonya activates a special skill.

Since it is pure damage, it cannot be reduced by Def or Res stats.

It also has access to a special effect refine that grants an effect similar to Time's Pulse 3 or Quickened Pulse.

If you invest the right skills into Sonya, she can be a reliable magic powerhouse that triggers her Special at every turn!

Can Debuff foes with Low Res

The C skill Res Ploy allows Sonya to debuff enemies who have lower Res than her.

This affects all enemies in Sonya's cardinal directions at the start of each turn. All magic users, including Sonya, can take advantage of this damage boost.

Since Sonya has a decent Res stat, she would not have much trouble applying this skill to a wide range of foes with some merges.

Mirror Strike 2 helps add more durability against magic units

Mirror Strike 2 further increases Sonya's ability to tank magic hits when she initiates combat because it grants a +4 Atk/Res bonus to her.

It helps a lot in defending counterattacks from enemies. If ever the opponent is set for a follow-up counterattack, the Res bonus is used twice making it very efficient in defending against said foes.

Sonya Weaknesses

Low Def

Sonya's Def only sits at 15 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for physical units to take her out.

Be mindful of Sonya's positioning in relation to physical units that can easily take her out.
