What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Grants a buff to allies within two spaces ・Has a double Rally+ skill ・Can raise the Def and Res stats of beast allies |

If unit transforms, grants Atk+2, and if unit initiates combat, inflicts Atk/Def-4 on foe during combat and foe cannot make a follow-up attack. |

Stat | Superboon/Superbane | IV Recommendation |
---|---|---|
HP (16) | ★★★☆☆ | |
Atk (22) | ★★★☆☆ | |
Spd (11) | ★★★★★ | |
Def (10) | ★★★★☆ | |
Res (4) | ★★☆☆☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Ranulf are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Ranulf to get a ton of follow-up attacks on his foes, but more importantly it protects him from hostile follow-up attacks. His Res of is less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Ranulf to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, he can reach 44 Spd which is definitely at an above average level. If you prefer raising his Spd through allied buffs, you can go for a +Atk IV instead.

This build boosts Atk and Spd for better offense. Fury and Desperation is a tried and true combo to allow consecutive attacks once the HP threshold is met. Fury 3 can be used for a budget skill.

SP: 400 | |
Might: 14 Range: 1 HP: 3 Grants Def+3. If unit initiates combat or is within 3 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat. Grants Atk/Def+4 to allies within 3 spaces during combat. At start of turn, if unit is adjacent to only beast or dragon allies or if unit is not adjacent to any ally, unit transforms (otherwise, unit reverts). If unit transforms, grants Atk+2 to unit, inflicts Atk/Def-X on foe during combat (X = number of spaces from start position to end position of whoever initiated combat + 3; max 6), and also, if X ≥ 5, reduces damage from foe's first attack by 30% during combat. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat, neutralizes effects that prevent unit's follow-up attacks, and deals damage = number of allies within 3 spaces × 5. (Excluding area-of-effect Specials; max 15.) :500 :200 |
|
The special refine of Covert Cat Fang neutralizes effects that deny Ranulf's follow-up attacks, grants bonus stats, and deals true damage based on the number of nearby allies.
These effects are worth way more than raw stat upgrades, and should be the refine of choice.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Ranulf is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Covert Cat Fang checks if there are allies wihin 2 spaces of Ranulf and if there are allies, the weapon skill grants both Ranulf and all allies within the AoE +3 Atk/Def. It is very convenient to activate and it completely stacks with Ranulf's other skills that buff stats.
If Ranulf meets the transformation cionditions of Covert Cat Fang, he is granted an additional +2 Atk. Additionally, if he is transformed and he initiates combat, he inflicts -4 Atk/Def and disables the foe's ability to land a follow-up attack.
Ranulf has access to the very powerful Rally Atk/Def+ which grants +6 Atk/Def to allies. It completely stacks with Covert Cat Fang and Ward Beasts so Ranulf can easily provide +9 Atk 13+ Def +4 Res to a beast unit! If the unit your Ranulf matches up with is the foe affected by Chill Atk 3, the foe will be at a huge disadvantage.
Chill Atk 3 inflicts -7 Atk on the enemy unit with the highest Atk stat. This is very important as it decreases the damage of one of the most powerful attackers on the opposite team. However, the debuff only lasts until their next action, so if they are granted another action through Galeforce or a refresher-assist skill, the debuff will cease and they can attack without the -7 Atk.
Another quirk of Chill Atk 3 is that it affects the enemy unit regardless of where Ranulf is positoned in relation to enemy units.
Ranulf's C skill, Ward Beasts grants +4 Def/Res to all beast allies within 2 spaces of Ranulf. Since he is a beast unit himself, this skill allows him to be a strong candidate for a support unit in all-beast teams. Since it is an in-combat buff, it is easy to stack with other kinds of buffs so feel free to stack other skills with it!
This makes him a good support unit to beast powerhouses like Caineghis who specializes in bulk.
Ranulf takes 1.5x damage from beast-effective weapons like Brave Eliwood's Nini's Ice Lance, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
Ranulf also takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons like Ridersbane, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
