The first Archstone gives you a taste of what's to come in Demon's Souls. It's the first location every player starts with and is just the beginning of the various hurdles you will have to overcome throughout the game.
| ① | Head straight from the Archstone and take the stairs to your right when you reach the gate. |

| ② | Head up the spiral staircase and continue your way up. |
| ③ | Pull the lever to open the gate. |
| ④ | Go through the fog and fight Phalanx. |
1-1: Boletarian Palace Story Walkthrough
| ① | This map is a straight line so watch out for the dragon's fire and head on through. |

1-2: Phalanx Archstone Story Walkthrough
| ① | Follow the path up the stairs and watch out for boulders. |
|---|---|
| ② | After the scene and the gate closes, turn back and go towards your left. |
| ③ | Pass through the fog door and ignore the archers while continuing left to open the gate. |
| ④ | Return to the gate and continue on. |
| ⑤ | A large number of enemies will come at you so it's best to run through them. |
| ⑥ | Entering the fog door will start the boss battle. |
