Is Boothill Worth Pulling?

Boothill is a Hunt character who relies on Break Effect to dish out single target burst damage. The Standoff state in his kit is great for single-target scenarios, especially against bosses. Thanks to his Traces, he is also easy to build.

Boothill can easily inflict Weakness Break through his Talent. It also allows him to deal Break DMG if the enemy is Weakness Broken, which is amazing on a Break DPS. He can also apply Physical Weakness on his own.

Boothill's ability to apply Physical Weakness on any enemy makes him an amazing unit for players who have very few DPS characters because it basically lets him ignore the recommended elements for battles.

Break Effect ★★★
SPD ★★★
CRIT Rate ★★
CRIT DMG ★★

Boothill's kit mainly scales with Break Effect. Prioritize getting Break Effect substats along with SPD since most of his damage comes from Break DMG and more SPD allows him to have more turns to attack Weakness Broken enemies.

Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge is his best relic set since it provides Break Effect and his Break DMG can ignore a target's DEF. This becomes a lot stronger with Super Break buffs and when paired with the Harmony Trailblazer.

Since Boothill will use the Talia: Kingdom of Banditry Ornament for now, make sure that he has at least 145 SPD to activate the Ornament's effect. You can also use Glamoth if you cannot meet Talia's SPD requirement, but Talia is way better.

Recommended Stat Values

Stat Recommended Value
Break Effect 200% and above
Speed 135 / 145 / 160
CRIT Rate 40 to 55%+ (Out of combat)
CRIT DMG 50%+ (Out of combat)

Boothill will want at least 200% Break Effect. Generally speaking, the more Break Effect you add, the more Boothill's damage will increase. Boothill does not need a lot of CRIT stats since his total Break Effect is converted to CRIT stats thanks to his Bonus Ability Ghost Load.

With 200% BE, having 55% CRate from stats and 0 CDMG substats will push his total CRIT stats to 75% CRate and 150% CDMG, which achieves the ideal 1:2 Ratio. Just keep in mind that his Bonus Ability has a cap of 300% Break Effect.

For speed, 135 SPD is okay for Boothill so he can get two turns in the first cycle, but 145 SPD is optimal since it also activates Talia's effect. Higher SPD is even better, but try to hit SPD Breakpoints.

Boothill's Best Teams

Star Rail - BoothillBoothill Star Rail - Trailblazer (Imaginary)Trailblazer (Imaginary) Star Rail - AstaAsta Star Rail - NatashaNatasha

Getting more Break Effect means more damage for Boothill and Harmony Trailblazer provides that. They can also give him additional Super Break DMG, which is more damage on top of the Break DMG he deals.

Even though Boothill won't have much use for the ATK buff, Asta can still buff his SPD which gives him more turns. Natasha or any F2P sustain character would work as the last party member for healing and cleansing.

Boothill Break Team

DPS Support Support Sustain
Star Rail - BoothillBoothill Star Rail - SundaySunday Star Rail - Ruan MeiRuan Mei Star Rail - LingshaLingsha

Boothill's ideal team comp is in a Break team since it provides him with more Break Effect, which means even more damage. Sunday is a great since he can give him bonus actions and Energy Restoration.

If being paired with Boothill, Sunday should have -1 or -2 SPD behind Boothill.

Sunday allows Boothill to do back-to-back Enhanced Basic ATKs which allows him to ramp up even faster. Ruan Mei gives a ton of Break Effect and other buffs like RES PEN, while Lingsha is a healer that also scales with Break Effect.

Alternative Explanation
Star Rail - BronyaBronya Support Replacement
Bronya can provide DMG buffs and bonus actions with her Skill.
Star Rail - PelaPela Support Replacement
Pela also works well with Boothill since she can apply DEF reduction to multiple enemies which Boothill's Break DMG can take advantage of.
Star Rail - Silver WolfSilver Wolf Support Replacement
Silver Wolf is also a suitable replacement since she provides a lot of debuffs and a lot of DEF reduction on her Ultimate.
Star Rail - SparkleSparkle Support Replacement
Sparkle can be a replacement for Bronya but since her Advance Forward is not 100%, it may mess up the turn order for Boothill since he's already built with a lot of SPD.
Star Rail - AstaAsta Support Replacement
Asta can also be used here since she can give Boothill a ton of SPD, which just gives him more turns.
Star Rail - GallagherGallagher Sustain Replacement
Gallagher's healing scales on the Break Effect and his Ultimate can inflict the Besotted debuff, which increases the Break DMG dealt on an enemy.

Boothill Super Break Team

DPS Support Support Healer
Star Rail - BoothillBoothill Star Rail - Trailblazer (Imaginary)Trailblazer (Imaginary) Star Rail - Ruan MeiRuan Mei Star Rail - LingshaLingsha

For this team, Boothill gets additional Super Break DMG on top of the Break DMG he deals thanks to Harmony Trailblazer. They also give him more Break Effect, which just improves his Break DMG even more.

Ruan Mei provides more Break Effect and other things like RES PEN, Break Efficiency, and extending the duration of Weakness Break on enemies which Boothill can use. For healing, Lingsha is the best choice since she scales with Break Effect.

All Recommended Relics and Ornaments

Relics Rating & Merits
Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge x4 ★★★★★ - Best

Thief of Shooting Meteor is great for Boothill since it provides a ton of Break Effect for him, which increases his Break DMG. It also gives him some Energy after inflicting Weakness Break.
Thief of Shooting Meteor Thief of Shooting Meteor x2
Watchmaker, Master of Dream Machinations Watchmaker, Master of Dream Machinations x2
★★★☆☆ - 3rd Best
Boothill can also use a 2pc. Thief and 2pc. Watchmaker for a raw boost to his Break Effect. This makes him easier to build since you're not locked to a 4pc. set.
Ornaments Merits
Talia: Kingdom of Banditry Talia: Kingdom of Banditry ★★★★★ - Best
Talia: Kingdom of Banditry is easily Boothill's best Ornament set since it gives him a lot of Break Effect. Just make sure to meet the 145 SPD requirement for the effect to take effect.
Firmament Frontline Glamoth Firmament Frontline Glamoth ★★★★☆ - 2nd Best
Glamoth is also good for Boothill but it's less optimal since the DMG boost doesn't boost his Break DMG.
