Be aware of your surroundings while exploring Vanaheim as there are dangerous plants that attack when you get close enough. Take these plants out from a safe distance using the Leviathan Axe.
During the eighth objective where you need to cross a broken bridge, you will find a crane with a grapple point and a brazier that you can move. Below is the puzzle solution on how to cross the broken bridge.
1 | Burn the bramble on your left and turn the crane until the grapple point is on your left. |
---|---|
2 | Use the grapple point to move to the other platform then position yourself to the other side. |
3 | Turn the crane until the brazier is right in front of you. Pull the brazier towards Kratos so it swings on the bramble blocking the other end of the bridge. |
Once the other bramble is cleared, you will be able to use the grapple point in the crane to swing onto the other side of the broken bridge.
Eventually after defeating the Nidhogg, you will run into two scorn poles blocking the path, but you're one Leviathan Axe short. The trick here is to have Freya shoot a Sigil Arrow on one of the poles before throwing your axe. This makes the freezing effect linger even after recalling the axe.
You can then throw the axe on the other pole and pass through.
The Forest Ancient here is the same as the Ancients in the previous game. It will also open its chest, exposing the heart, when attacking. Throw your axe at this weak point to deal damage and build up the Stun gauge.
Attacking its heart also makes it release explosive rocks that you can pick up and throw at the Ancient to deal even more damage and Stun buildup!
Fiske's attacks can easily be telegraphed and parried, which also makes it easier to stagger him. Most of his combos start with normal attacks and finish with either a yellow ring (can be parried) or a red ring attack. Wait for him to finish each combo before attacking.
Since you can parry most of his attacks, the Dauntless Shield works well in this fight as you can quickly charge it. When fully charged, you can use it Shield Strike to interrupt any of Fiske's attacks, including the red ring ones.
When the Nidhogg plunges the ground with its tail and starts charging, quickly strike the tail with a Shield Strike to interrupt it. Leaving it alone will unleash an unblockable attack that covers the entire arena.
After dragging the Nidhogg out of the realm tear, it will occasionally climb one of the pillars and launch long range attacks. Wait for Freya to apply marks with her Sigil Arrows and follow the prompt on your screen. The marks can be popped either by an axe throw or by a blade detonation.
