Defeat the Draugr Minions First Deal With One Soul Eater at a Time Throw Your Axe at the Exposed Core Attack Before Grappling the Core
|
During the encounter at Surtr's Forge, multiple Draugr minions will spawn alongside each Soul Eater. Use Kratos' Blades of Chaos to quickly tear through multiple Draugr and give yourself an easier time focusing on the Soul Eaters.
Prioritize taking down one Soul Eater at a time instead of spreading damage between two to immediately reduce the number of attacks you have to dodge and to have an easier time during the fight.
Like the Forest Ancient and Frost Ancient, the Soul Eater is only vulnerable to attacks toward its glowing red core. While the boss uses its ranged attacks, throw your Leviathan Axe or Draupnir Spear into its exposed core to quickly fill up its stun meter and leave it open for massive damage.
Throwing your weapons toward the Soul Eater's core also makes it drop explosive rocks, which you can pick up and throw at the boss to deal even more damage and stun build-up.
After filling up the Soul Eater's stun meter, it falls to the ground and leaves its core exposed for an extended period. We recommend dealing as much damage as possible with Kratos' regular attacks before grappling the core to maximize your damage output during the fight.
The Soul Eater crosses its arms before releasing a barrage of fireballs at delayed intervals toward Kratos, inflicting the Burn debuff and dealing moderate damage on contact.
To effectively deal with this attack, block and evade each fireball and throw the Leviathan Axe toward its core between barrages to stagger the Soul Eater.
The Soul Eater bends backward, supporting itself with all of its limbs before releasing scattered embers around the arena, each flame breaking Kratos' guard and causing heavy Burn buildup on impact.
Watch for the Soul Eater's unique pose and the attack's yellow ring indicator, and dodge out of each ember's path to avoid getting hit.
The Soul Eater gets on all fours before releasing a unblockable fiery shockwave that deals moderate damage and inflicts Burn on hit. React to the attack's red ring indicator and quickly roll backward out of the shockwave's radius to avoid getting hurt.
