Grýla is Angrboda's grandmother. Normally I would be so excited at the thought of meeting one of the only other remaining Giants, but she and Angrboda's relationship is—strained, to say the least. Not in the way Father and I were before our journey, but it sounds like Grýla did something to hurt Angrboda. She said Grýla "changed" after Angrboda's father refused to challenge his fate. Earlier we saw a soulless animal... is she taking the souls of living things? |

Grýla is encountered inside her home past Idi's Sinkhole in Jötunheim during The Lost Sanctuary. |

Aim for the Glowing Cauldron Focus Down the Dropped Cauldron Use the Candles in the Arena Dispel Magic with Uncharged Shots
|
When Gryla's cauldron begins glowing purple, this indicates that it's become an active weak spot. Focus on shooting down the glowing cauldron to inflict heavy stun damage toward Gryla and eventually knock her down.
After filling up her stun meter, Gryla will drop her cauldron on the ground, causing it to glow purple and become a weak spot for an extended period. Deal as much damage to the cauldron as possible during this state to quickly tear through Gryla's health bar.
Maximize your damage output while Gryla's cauldron is on the ground by weaving in Angrboda's attacks between your charged bow shots.
There are a few purple candles in the arena that Angrboda can explode to stun Gryla and expose her glowing cauldron. Lead Gryla toward these candles and detonate them once she gets close to create additional damage windows during the fight.
When Gryla performs her Homing Magic Orbs attack, avoid blocking or parrying the projectiles and instead use uncharged bow shots to dispel each of the orbs before they hit you.
Gryla rushes toward Atreus to quickly stomp her foot down on top of him, dealing moderate damage on hit. To avoid this move, react to the attack's distinct wind-up animation and roll out of its path.
Gryla smacks the bottom of her cauldron to send an exploding blob of purple magic toward Atreus, dealing moderate damage on hit. React to the attack's yellow ring indicator and dodge away from the blob's explosion radius to avoid getting hurt.
Later in the fight, Gryla can perform this attack twice in a row, so prepare to evade both of the incoming magic blobs when this attack variant occurs.
Gryla thrusts her cauldron toward Atreus, letting it spew out homing magic orbs that knock Atreus backward and break his guard. To effectively deal with this attack, use uncharged bow shots to shoot down the projectiles before they reach you.
Gryla reaches into her cauldron to throw a trio of unblockable magic dust clumps toward Atreus, landing on top of him in a horizontal line. React to the attack's red ring indicator and dodge away from the path of the magic dust to avoid getting hit.
Later in the fight, Gryla can perform this attack twice in a row, so prepare to evade two barrages of magic dust when this attack variant occurs.
Gryla holds a fistful of purple dust over her head before scattering it as magic miasma along the surface beneath Atreus' feet. You can avoid this attack by climbing onto the kitchen counters or dropping down onto the floor, depending on where the miasma will spread.
