The best IVs for Saul are +Spd and -Def. He has a decently high Spd which allows him to effectively use modern staff skills like Poetic Justice and Dazzling Shift.

We recommend a -Def bane for Saul as it is his superbane and no amount of invesement will salvage his lack of physical bulk.

Saul is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Saul Strengths

Incurable+ denies healing

Incurable+ allows Saul to inflict 【Deep Wounds】on enemies which prevents them from restoring HP from any source. This is a good way to cripple enemies with built-in healing skills like Ganglot and Rearmed Robin (F).

It also an accessible version of Serpentine Staff+, making Saul a great inhertance unit if you are not planning to use him.

Saul Weaknesses

Terrible Physical Bulk

Saul currently has one of the worst Def stat out of all the staff units, making him incapable of surviving any physical hits. With 16 Def base stat, Saul will definitely lose in any physical combat he engages with.

Lack of Unique Skills

Saul suffers from not having any unique skills to call his own, making him unable to stand out amongst other units.

Staff units are quite abundant in the game, and lacking an exclusive skill makes Saul replaceable by better units.
