The best IVs for Keaton +Atk and -Spd. Keaton's main strength lies in his ability to attack twice with Wolfskin Fang, so even a small change to his Atk stat greatly changes his overall ability. As long as he has +Atk, his bane is not really of much significance, but since his Spd stat is practically useless, it is the ideal bane.

How to Use, Explanation

A DC Vantage set for Keaton. Since Vantage 3 replaces Special Spiral 3, Keaton needs Steady Breath 3 in the S slot. With this build, he can take out a lot of units in the enemy phase. If you cannot afford Joint Hone Atk, you can go for Def Smoke 3.

How to Use, Explanation

This is a premium, player phase build for Keaton. With this build, he will always trigger Draconic Aura in battles after the first activation. Maximizing Atk is the name of the game for him as it is effectively leveraged by Wolfskin Fang's double hit ability.

How to Use, Explanation

This build uses Keaton as a front line unit preventing enemies from approaching using Atk/Def Bulwark 3. Distant Counter may be used in the A slot if recoil is an issue.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Wolfskin Fang

Refined Wolfskin Fang applies an additional Atk/Def penalty on the foe, neutralizes bonuses to those stats, and grants a Heavy Blade effect for Keaton.

This refine allows Keaton to quickly charge up a Special like Bonfire and have it hit harder with the stat penalties and bonus neutralization, making it a great option overall.

Keaton is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Keaton Strengths

Attack Twice with Wolfskin Fang

Keaton's weapon, the Wolfskin Fang, inflicts -5 Spd onto him but it lets him attack twice regardless of who attacks. This is very similar to Sword Reinhardt's weapon that allows him to attack twice in both player and enemy phases. It also grants +2 Atk and +10 damage whenever his special triggers if Keaton is transformed. This makes Keaton an great mixed-phase unit provided that he is transformed.

Special Spiral 3 Reduces Special Cooldown Count

Special Spiral 3 grants cooldown count -2 everytime Keaton's special triggers. If you stick with Keaton's native special, Draconic Aura, you can activate it very shortly after its first activation as it only has a cooldown count of 3. Being able to consistently trigger a special is one of Keaton's greatest strengths. This synergizes well with Wolfskin Fang's bonus special damage.

Very useful for building other beast units

Keaton's C skill Beast Valor will allow all beast members on the same party to gain 2x SP. This will make building your other beast units and learning their skills extremely quick and painless. If done on the weekends where a 2x SP multiplier is already in effect, or when a unit is receiving some kind of 2x bonus from an event or blessing, these bonuses stack, which will allow beast units to gain a ton of SP in no time.

Keaton Weaknesses

Low Spd

Keaton has low Spd especially because of Wolfsking Fang. He is not entirely frail unless he is against a magic user. His high Def makes sure that he can withstand a wide range of physical attackers.

Low Res

Keaton's Res only sits at 19 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for magic users to take him out. Be mindful of Keaton's positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take him out.
