When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

Neutral IVs by default!

As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Rutger will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Spd/-Res

The best IVs for Rutger are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Rutger to get a ton of follow-up attacks on his foes. It also protects him from hostile follow-up attacks. His Res is of less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.

Additionally, Rutger's Spd is a superboon so you should take advantage of it as much as possible.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Rutger to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, he can reach 47 Spd which is at a range wherein he can score lots of follow-up attacks even without support from allies.

Rutger is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Rutger Strengths

Refined Wanderer Blade accelerates Specials quickly

Rutger received a new weapon in Wanderer Blade on August 2022, and it can be refined into a powerhouse of a weapon.

When refined, it grants accelerated Special trigger, Atk/Spd+10, Special cooldown charge +1 per attack, and Spd based damage reduction (up to 40%).

This refine sets him up to be a speedy sword unit capable of triggering Galeforce quickly. Damage reduction being tied to his weapon also frees up his B slot for Null Follow-Up 3 while retaining his survivability.

Learns the Powerful B Skill Vantage

His B slot skill Vantage is an excellent passive skill. It allows him to counterattack a foe first before they can make their attack, if a counterattack is possible, which means that an enemy attacking Rutger can lead to their own quick defeat.

Atk/Def Bond Increases Offensive Power

Atk/Def Bond 3 increases Rutger's Atk and Def by +5 if he is adjacent to an ally. Since it is an in-combat buff, it stacks with other combat buffs, so it is good to pair with units that have skills like Atk Tactic or Spur Def.

Low Res

Rutger's Res only sits at 124 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for magic users to take him out. Be mindful of Rutger's positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take him out.

Obtain through a Grand Hero Battle

Rutger is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
