Developments make it easier to sustain and improve your settlements, but it could take a while for you to earn development points. We recommend spending your points on these best developments:

1. Charcoal Burning for Fuel Management

Charcoal Burning is by far the best development to spend a point on. It unlocks a Charcoal Kiln building that converts 1 Firewood into 2 Charcoal, doubling your fuel supply. It's especially useful for winters, since the season doubles your fuel consumption!

2. Forest Management for Food and Clothing

Forest Management doubles the amount of berries in your berry deposits, allowing for a better harvest.

Since you can use berries as food or dye (a clothing material), the resource is one of the most flexible in-game. It's definitely one of the better developments to spend a point on!

3. Sheepbreeding Produces Infinite Sheep for Trading

Sheepbreeding enables all the Sheep in your Pasture to multiply without spending any resource. The number of sheep is only going to be limited by your Pasture space.

The value of this development becomes obvious when you start exporting your Sheep in the Livestock Trading Post. Since you're basically duplicating Sheep without spending anything, this is the best way to get easy Regional Wealth!

4. Trade Logistics to Save Money on Trade Route

Trade Logistics helps you save up on regional wealth by cutting the cost of establishing trade routes to 25 regional wealth at most. You'll see a lot of trading in the later stages of the game, so this is great for long-term regional wealth gain!

5. Deep Mining for an Infinite Source of Iron and Clay

Deep Mining converts an already existing Iron or Clay deposit into an infinite one. The only requirement is you have to mine a rich deposit for it to work.

This can feel underwhelming in the early to mid-game because rich deposits tend to take a long time to run out but is very crucial in the later parts of the game when you need to mass-produce weapons and armor for your army.

6. Better Deals to Reduce Purchasing Costs by 10

Better Deals will reduce the cost of importing goods by 10 Regional Wealth, making it the same amount as exporting prices. This is a massive boost to your economy since you're spending significantly less Regional Wealth to purchase goods.

As an example, if you're going to import 10 Stone, you'll only be spending 10 Regional Wealth compared to 100.
