The options for the game setup are determined by the Scenario Template and Template Difficulty you've chosen at the start of the game. Once established, you can choose the options yourself according to your preference.
For those new to the strategy, builder genre, the Relaxing Difficulty is a great way to start the game and familiarize new players with the in-game mechanics.
The Default Difficulty is recommended for those who have dabbled with the genre before, and for players who are generally fans of medieval strategy games. Those who are acquainted with this genre should opt for this difficulty.
Players who are looking to test their mettle with the strategy, builder genre should choose the Challenging Difficulty. This difficulty raises the stakes of the game that will force players to step out of their comfort zone and play the game.
You will only be able to gain access to the difficulty options of the game by starting a new game in the starting menu and choosing the template difficulty of your choosing.
It is still unclear whether the game will allow players to change the difficulty options of the game during the middle of the playthrough.
