Early Access Features in Manor Lords

List of Manor Lords' Early Access Features

City-Building

One of the main features of Manor Lords is building up your city from scratch and having it produce different goods for you to use or sell. This is the main focus of the game since, without a city to support you, your empire will swiftly crumble.

Army Management and Battles

Another major feature of the game is the ability to create and manage medieval armies to defend your lands. Draft your villages or hire mercenaries to create a military force strong enough to repel enemy forces and claim the lands of opposing lords.

Claiming Lands

As your city takes up more and more space, you will eventually need to spread your influence to claim other lands. This lets you build a new city that could focus on producing goods that your original city may not be capable of, like farming on fertile land or excavating untouched mines.

Planned Features for Future Updates

List of Manor Lords' Planned Features

*This feature is not guaranteed to be added in a future update, but it has been taken into consideration.

Walls and Fortifications

Currently, there are no walls or fortifications in the game that prevent opposing armies from marching straight into your town. In a future update, these will be added so that you aren't reliant on your armies to block the paths of invading forces.

Naval Battles

There are plans to add Naval Battles into the game, which will add another form of combat outside of controlling your troops on land. This will add a new layer of complexity where you will need to defend your lands from sea-based attacks and invasions.

New Maps and Resources

If Naval Battles are planned to be added to the game, you can also expect new maps and resources to accommodate the addition of maritime warfare.

As of now, the only bodies of water on the map are small rivers, which aren't fit for ship battles. This means that new maps with large bodies of water, with potentially new resources, could be added to add space for sea-faring vessels to duke it out.

Do note that this is pure speculation as nothing has been mentioned regarding new maps and resources, but it would make sense that they would need to add larger bodies of water for ships to sail on.

Cavalry

Considering that all of the military units are on foot, adding Cavalry to the game could shift the way battles play out. You'll no longer be able to safely leave your archers behind a wall of shields since mounted units will be able to charge directly into the backline.

Are There Horses in Manor Lords?

Different Cultures and Factions

Since the theme for Manor Lords is Medieval European times, players have expressed an interest in seeing other Cultures or Factions in the game as well. The developer then responded that exploring other Cultures and Factions is something that they've also thought about.

This however is something that the developer has only thought about, and there's no guarantee that this will be added to the game.

Guns

Another interesting feature that is planned to be added are Guns. However, since the game is set in medieval times, the selection of firearms would most likely be limited to Gunpowder-based arms like a Handgonne, also known as a Hand Cannon.

This is still a massive advancement in technology since it would make things like plate armour and shields useless, allowing you to take decisive victories against opposing lords.

Do note that this would be the final addition to the game and that it can be disabled for players who don't wish for this feature to be in the game.

Features Confirmed Not to Appear

List of Manor Lords' Deconfirmed Features

*This feature isn't planned on being developed, but it could appear in a future update if the developer chooses to work on it and add it to the game.

Dynasty Mechanics

Unlike other games within the genre, Manor Lords has no plans of adding heirs into the game to create a Dynasty feature where the lands are passed down from one heir to the next.

This means that you will always be playing the same character managing his/her lands and armies until you beat the scenario and win the game.

Heroes or Leader Units

Similar to the Dynasty Mechanics, powerful Hero or Leader Units aren't planned on being added to the game. This could fundamentally change the balance of combat and stray away from the mass army warfare that makes the game so charming.

Single-Person Units Could be Added in a Future Update

According to the official Manor Lords Discord FAQ, it says that there are no plans on adding Single-Person Units for now, indicating that there is a possibility of it coming in the future but not any time soon.

Whether these be powerful lone-wolf-type units, or siege equipment like Trebuchets and Ballistas, we'd have to wait and see.

Town Guards

Town Guards are different from your regular armies in that they enforce your people rather than defending them from outside forces. This means that either your armies will also act as the Town Guard, or that there will be no added features that would need to make use of a Town Guard.
