To build Apiaries, you must first unlock the Beekeeping Development Node. It also has another upgrade called Advanced Beekeeping, allowing Apiaries to produce Wax, but will cost you another Development Point.

Produce Honey

Manor Lords - Apiary

Apiaries are primarily built to produce Honey for your settlement. Honey is a great way to increase food diversity for your settlement, increasing your Approval Rate, as well as meeting upgrade requirements for Burgage Plots.

Keep in mind that only 2 Apiaries can be built per village, so plan ahead where you want to put your apiaries, and when to construct them.

Honey: How to Get and How to Use

Not a Reliable Food Source for Large Populations

As you expand your settlement, you may begin to notice that Honey can no longer sustain your townsfolk's food necessity by itself. Apiaries produce roughly 1 Honey per month, and while it may seem consistent, it becomes barely enough as you expand your settlement.

Having Apiaries is still a great alternative Food source, as well as providing Food Variety for your town, just make sure to use it in conjunction with other Food Sources, such as Farms and Hunting Camps.

Manor Lords - Export Wax

While Apiaries can produce Wax once you unlock the Advanced Beekeeping Development node, it has minimal use as of the Early Access of the game.

There is currently no building that produces Candles, so the only way to profit off of your Wax is by exporting it via a Trading Post.
