Retinue are stronger and better-equipped soldiers for your army in Manor Lords. See how to get more Retinue, how to increase retinue size, as well as how to customize Retinue in this guide.
As of Manor Lords' Early Access, you can get more Retinue in three ways:

After recruiting your initial Retinue, you can increase Retinue by hiring more soldiers from the Customization Menu. Head to the Army Menu between the Construction and Map Menu and select the Retinue's unit to access the Retinue Customization menu beside the Rally Button.
Afterward, press the Recruit Man-at-Arms button to spend 50 Treasury to hire another Retinue. There is also a feature where you can promote Militia into a Retinue, but is currently locked as of the Early Access of the game.
Retinues are strong soldiers, but some may die in battle, leaving you with the recruits missing notification.
You can fix this by hiring replacements from the Retinue Customization menu.

Garrison Tower |
Costs 10 Timber, 15 Planks, and 10 Stones to build. This increases the maximum Retinue size by 12. Only one Garrison Tower can be built. |
While you only initially obtain 5 Soldiers, you can add more soldiers for 50 Treasury per soldier, up to 12. You can increase the limit to 24 by constructing Garrison Towers.

You can add more Retinue by building Manors in other regions you've claimed and settled in. This method gives you another Retinue unit to add more soldiers to by spending Treasury and building Garrison Towers.
How to Claim New Region and Territory

To recruit your Retinue, you must first construct a Manor. Once your Manor is built, you will receive a small Retinue, which consists of five soldiers that are stronger than your militia.
How to Build and Use the Manor House

To customize your Retinue, open up the army menu using the V Key. The Retinue icon can be found beside the Militia, and can be Rallied or customized while they are disbanded.
The Militia customization menu offers a variety of options, ranging from cosmetics to Changing Equipment.

From the Equipment Menu, you can also change your Retinue's Armor, Weapon, and even assign Armor Upgrades.
Upgrading Retinue Armor costs Treasury from importing Plate Armor, but the cost can be reduced by 50% if you can purchase it from your settlement, and converting the Treasury into Regional Wealth instead.
Master Armormaking Development Guide

You can also change your Retinue's Name and the color of their Armor from the Army Menu.
These changes are purely cosmetic, and does not affect your Retinue's stats in any way.
