The Map and Overlays in Manor Lords present vital information about nearby resources, underground water, farming fertility, and neighboring regions. Check out the map and learn how to check the overlays for underground water and fertility in this guide!
List of Contents
You can access the map by pressing M on the keyboard, pressing the Map button, or by scrolling down to zoom out. You can return to normal view and take a closer look at your townspeople by scrolling up.
Manor Lords only has a single map with the same regions for all three of its scenarios. However, more maps may be added by the developer, Slavic Magic, in the future.
Thus, map size could grow larger than what early access has as more features are rolled out.
All Current and Planned Features
Access the Overlays for your current Region by opening the Construction Tab. Afterwards, you can select the overlay you wish to view by clicking the overlay type at the right side of the screen.
To Exit, simply exit the Construction Tab as well.
The map displays all the regions that are neutral, owned by you, or owned by an opposing Lord. Regions you own are red, enemy-owned regions are yellow, while neutral regions do not have color.
Furthermore, the map also shows discovered bandit camps and resources like berries and clay you can take.
Each time you start a scenario in Manor Lords, you will be given a random starting region. Each region has one of every resource deposit type, but their locations and whether they are rich deposits are also randomized.
If you want to optimize for a specific rich deposit, you can create a new game until you get your desired region and resource locations.
In Restoring the Peace, Baron Hildebolt always starts with two regions: Selbitz and Hofstetten. Afterwards, the Baron will make claims to other regions, depending on the difficulty chosen.
We recommend checking the map as the game progresses to check which regions Baron Hildebolt controls and makes claims to.
How to Beat Restoring the Peace Scenario
Underground Water Overlay displays where underground water is present in your region. This overlay helps you find possible Well locations if you set Well Placement to Underground Water at the beginning in game setup.
There is no Underground Water Overlay if you're playing on Relaxing difficulty, so you're free to place your wells anywhere you want.
Well - How to Build and Use
Fertility Overlays help you by displaying where crops are most fertile in a given region. You can check the fertility of each crop in a region by selecting the crop overlay you wish to view on the right side of the screen.
We recommend planning out the placement of your fields and farmhouses with overlays before constructing.
