Raiders are an enemy unit that periodically attacks your settlement in Manor Lords. Learn how to spot when Raiders are near to prepare for and survive an attack from them in this guide!
Raiders have a tendency to attack your settlement once every one to three years depending on the set frequency of their raids dictated by the game setup.
Once raiders are Near, you will receive a prompt to either track their movement or otherwise. We recommend choosing the option to Track their movement in order to initiate a countdown until their arrival.
It's best to use this time to fortify your troops to ensure that your settlement receives the least amount of damage.
Having reserved Militia for your settlement is the quickest way for you to be able to rally troops in a short amount of time.
Always ensure that your units are equipped with the necessary military resources that correspond to their unit type.
By establishing your Manor, you automatically gain a Retinue who you can employ for any combat purposes and are stronger than your regular militia units.
In case you are unable to prepare enough military resources to rally your men, or if you choose to save your forces for a different purpose, hiring Mercenaries to combat Raiders is a recommended option if you have enough money stored in your treasury.
If you plan on fighting Raiders inside your territory, you'll need to build a Corpse Pit to dispose of their bodies afterwards. If you leave their corpses unburied, you'll lose approval until they're laid to rest.
Do note that if you intercept and kill them outside of your lands, you won't need to build a Corpse Pit since your citizens couldn't care less about dead bodies out in the middle of nowhere.
Raiders will begin their march to your settlement by the end of the Raider countdown indicated at the lower left of your screen if you choose to track their movement.
Around this time, you may intercept them with your prepared army to stop them from attacking and setting your settlement ablaze.
If Raider attacks become too overwhelming for you to handle, you may completely disable raiding altogether by setting Raider Frequency to None.
If you are still looking to experience raids but with less frequency, you may set Raider Frequency to Medium while keeping the Raider Free Years setting to 3.
Game Setup and Difficulty Options
In the event that you are unable to properly prepare an army for combat or they become overpowered by Raiders, your settlement will be burnt down.
When this happens, most, if not all of your establishments will turn into rubble. In which case, you must take this opportunity to rebuild your settlement as quickly as possible to prepare for other challenges that your village might face.
