Charcoal Kilns are buildings that convert Firewood to Charcoal. It takes 1 Firewood and converts into 2 Charcoal, essentially doubling your settlement's Fuel Supply.

Since it will take time to convert Firewood to Charcoal, you should begin production as early as spring, to stock up on Fuel for Winter when Fuel consumption is doubled.

Build Near Woodcutter's Lodge

Before Firewood can be converted to Charcoal, the Firewood must first be delivered to the Kiln. While Charcoal Kilns have a generic storage space of 50, delivery can still take time and eat into your production process.

Having your Woodcutter's Lodge and Charcoal Kiln close together reduces delivery time, making your Charcoal production more efficient, yielding more Charcoal in the process.
