As is the usual trope, mining buildings are used to get ores and stones from the earth. These resources are usually finite in number but upgrading into a deep mine makes iron and clay production indefinite.
Mining buildings will be important in the early game especially as you try to produce stronger materials from iron and stone. Make sure to build mining buildings as early as you can.
As mentioned, Mining buildings will mostly produce raw materials from the earth. Make sure to have enough of these buildings and increase their frequency as you inevitably expand your settlement.
Mining buildings need workers to operate. Each building has different worker slots that will be filled by your citizens when you plop the building in your settlement.
