Valhalla Story Quest	Description
The Invitation	An introductory quest showing Kratos' arrival at Valhalla.
Homecoming	The first true run of Valhalla, where Kratos encounters some familiar faces.
The Host	Kratos journeys further into Valhalla, meeting the one who invited him to the mysterious realm.
The Work, Part 1	Realizing he is not yet ready, Kratos devotes himself to preparation through battle.
The Work, Part 2	Kratos continues to process his memories, thoughts and choices, confronting insights he did not have in the past.
The Work, Part 3	Kratos comes to terms with his past and present, and makes a decision about his future.

Defeat Chosen and Proving Ground Boss

Valhalla

After the introduction to the Valhalla game mode, you will be able to go on multiple runs within Valhalla, accumulating rewards to buy permanent upgrades.

During runs, you may encounter mini-boss enemies called Valhalla's Chosen. These enemies must be defeated to unlock the Ascending Sands in the Sanctuary.

Once defeated, entering the Ascending Sands will take Kratos to the Proving Ground where they will confront a boss.

Defeating the Proving Ground Boss unlocks access to the Upper Layer of Valhalla, where Kratos will experience relevant story moments.

Return to the Gate to Begin Unlocking More Quests

After the story quest, Kratos will be returned to the entrance to begin the cycle again new runs and find more Chosen.

Continue Playing After Completion

Because Valhalla is a repeatable roguelike experience, players can continue playing after completing the story quests to make themselves more powerful and earn more rewards.

Valhalla Story Quest Walkthroughs

The Invitation Walkthrough

	Objectives
1	Explore the Shore After arriving on the shore of Valhalla, Kratos and Mimir must unravel the mystery of the Island and find out who invited them there.
2	Explore the Lower Realms This mission functions as a tutorial for a typical Valhalla run. Simply follow the game's instructions to proceed. Most of the doors in the Sanctuary will be locked and you will be unable to open them until you clear the tutorial and begin making proper runs.
3	Die and Come Back You will eventually fight some unbeatable enemies and experience a cutscene after being returned to the entrance.
4	Select a Shield and Spartan Rage You'll be prompted to learn more about Valhalla by speaking to the Valkyries and selecting a Shield and Rage for the run before beginning.
5	Touch the Ascending Sands After completing your tutorial run, the Ascending Sands will unlock automatically. Touch them to move straight to the Upper Layer, skipping the Proving Ground. After the cutscene, you'll return to the entrance and conclude the quest.

Quest Rewards

You will receive 25 Mastery Seals, which can be used to unlock permanent upgrades at the Tablet of Reflection.

Homecoming Walkthrough

	Objectives
1	Reenter Valhalla Intrigued by what he saw in the upper realms, Kratos resolves to continue exploring Valhalla to learn more about his purpose.
2	Master the Lower Realms From the shore, you will unlock some new features, including Armor Transmog and a tablet with optional Labors you can do for extra rewards. You will also unlock the Tablet of Reflection where you can get permanent upgrades. Through your next run, you will encounter your first group of Valhalla's Chosen.
3	Defeat Fiske in the Proving Grounds After defeating the Chosen, unlock the Ascending Sands to go to the Proving Grounds, where you will fight Fiske, the Einherjar Captain. His strategy is similar to the one from the campaign, though your randomized buffs may force you to alter your style of play. ▶How to Beat Fiske: Boss Fight Guide
4	Push the Cage In the Upper Realms, you'll meet a voice from Kratos' past, Helios. As you fight your way through, you'll need to push a cage through a gauntlet of minor enemies based on the older God of War games, and unlock the Legacy Spartan Rage type, which unleashes the Blade of Olympus. Legacy Rage will be available during subsequent runs.
5	Make the Sacrifice After pushing the cage, Kratos will make a Sacrifice, and be returned to the shore after the cutscenes.

Quest Rewards

You will receive 25 Mastery Seals, which can be used to unlock permanent upgrades at the Tablet of Reflection.

The Host Walkthrough

	Objectives
1	Reenter Valhalla Rescued from his encounter in the Upper Realms, Kratos must make his way up through Valhalla once more and meet the one that invited him there.
2	Master the Lower Realms Again You will unlock even more features, like the Tablet of Influence which lets you spend Spirit Seals to adjust Valhalla itself (such as by increasing the chance of finding high-level Runic attacks or giving you Fleeting Echoes at the start of the run.
3	Defeat Dreki in the Proving Grounds You'll need to defeat the Chosen again, but will have to fight a Dreki when entering the Proving Grounds. ▶How to Beat Dreki: Boss Fight Guide
4	Return to the Chamber of Sacrifice You will need to proceed through more rooms after the Proving Grounds here, and locate another group of Chosen to defeat. You will need to proceed through a Labyrinth and interact with different Realm Tears to summon random enemies accompanied by one of the three Chosen you'll need to defeat. Eventually you will return to the Chamber of Sacrifice where you will need to defeat a Cyclops, which is pretty much the same as a standard Ogre enemy.
5	Defeat Tyr After the battle, you will meet Tyr, your host. Tyr will challenge you to a match, and you will need to defeat Tyr at the end of each run to unlock the next story quest. This time, he will wield his spear and shield, using a mix of close and medium-range attacks. If you are defeated, you will need to try again, but will be able to spend your resources on permanent upgrades to get stronger for your next attempt. After defeating Tyr, you will go through a cutscene, return to the entrance, and begin the next quest.

Quest Rewards

You will receive 45 Mastery Seals, 2 Divine Triumphs, 1 Sanctuary Barrier Key, 325 Spirit Seals, and Unlock Rank 2 Weapon Cosmetics.

The Work, Part 1 Walkthrough

	Objectives
1	Reenter Valhalla With his purpose in Valhalla fully clarified, Kratos must do his best in Valhalla and meet its challenges. This is your first run with the fully unlocked cycle of runs and benefits available. From here, you will receive a Divine Triumph for every completed run.
2	Master the Lower Realms Yet Again From here, you'll be able to buy Sanctuary Barrier keys from the Tablet of Influence to permanently lower barriers in the sanctuaries, as well as upgrades to increase your rewards and speed your progress.
3	Defeat the Proving Grounds Boss Unlike previous quests, the Proving Grounds bosses here will be randomized. They will typically be drawn from the main campaign, such as Miklimunnr, a troll. ▶List of Bosses: All Main Story and Secret Boss Guides
4	Navigate the Labyrinth You will return to the Labyrinth from the previous quest, but will need to pursue a Siren miniboss before unlocking the rest of the maze and enabling you to hunt down the next batch of Valhalla's Chosen.
5	Defeat Tyr Upon reaching the top of Valhalla, you'll need to defeat Tyr once again. This time he will be armed with a powerful greatsword and use a combat style similar to that of a Traveler enemy. After the battle, Kratos will have a conversation with Tyr that helps him come to terms with his pact with Ares, the inciting incident that set him on his violent path.

Quest Rewards

You will receive 55 Mastery Seals, 3 Divine Triumphs, Guiding Light Armor Cosmetics, 350 Spirit Seals, and Unlock Rank 3 Weapon Cosmetics.

The Work, Part 2 Walkthrough

	Objectives
1	Reenter Valhalla Kratos continues to work things out through battle in Valhalla. From here, you may take on Burdens of Valhalla - optional debuffs to add additional challenge and enhance your rewards in return.
2	Master the Lower Realms Once More In the Lower Realms, you may find a Boat Captain Key, which will unlock a conversation with Mimir when you reach the Upper Realms. There's only a chance for a key to appear in any given run, but when you've found three, you will unlock the You Again? trophy and achievement.
3	Defeat the Proving Grounds Boss The Proving Grounds Boss is Modi, a son of Thor and a returning boss from the previous God of War game. His attack pattern is similar to the one from that game, though he has additional moves that include lightning strikes. If you are defeated, on the next run you will face a randomized boss from the campaign. ▶List of Bosses: All Main Story and Secret Boss Guides
4	Navigate the Labyrinth You will return to the Labyrinth and need to defeat a Siren and a Minotaur as you hunt the Chosen through a series of Greek-themed arenas based on Kratos' early adventures.
5	Defeat Tyr In your third battle with Tyr he will use a pair of Egyptian Khopesh swords, and attack at a much faster pace than previous rounds. He will also use Blinding attacks like the Dark Elves, trapping you in darkness temporarily. After the battle, Tyr and Kratos will continue processing his motivations, as well as his legacy and the effects of his actions on the world.

You will receive 65 Mastery Seals, 3 Divine Triumphs, 375 Spirit Seals, and Unlock Rank 4 Weapon Cosmetics.

The Work, Part 3 Walkthrough

	Objectives
1	Reenter Valhalla His preparation almost complete, Kratos ascends Valhalla one more time to confront his inner demons.
2	Master the Lower Realms Once More The next run through the Lower Realms should make it easier to select a Weapon Path glyph, as the buffs will be based on all three of your main weapons. ▶List of All Weapons
3	Defeat the Proving Grounds Boss The Proving Grounds Boss is Magni, Thor's other son. Unlike Modi, Magni will have an electrified greatsword and use many area-of-effect blasts at close range. If you are defeated, on the next run you will face a randomized boss from the campaign. ▶List of Bosses: All Main Story and Secret Boss Guides
4	Navigate the Labyrinth You will return to the Labyrinth and need to defeat a Siren and a Centaur in the arenas. You'll also need to hunt down the largest batch of Chosen so far.
5	Defeat Tyr Your final major battle with Tyr will see the Norse god of war pull out his whole arsenal, including a Japanese katana, the weapons from the previous matches, and summons of the more powerful Chosen-type enemies. Victory in this battle will close out the main story of the God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC and see Kratos come to terms with his legacy, and emerge ready to face the future. Congratulations!
