+Spd / -Def

The best IVs for Ricken are +Spd and -Def. His Spd is at base 39 and requires some investment in order to not get doubled by the fast metagame units. He won't be able to double them, however, but denying one is just as important.

His Def is below average and should be safe to take as a bane. As a mage unit, he shouldn't be taking physical hits often.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend +Spd when boosting Ricken to +10 for similar reasons above. He needs the Spd investment to prevent follow-up attacks.

Ricken is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Ricken Strengths

Gronnrabbit+ provides Atk/Res buffs and heals after combat

Ricken's Gronnrabbit+ is an alright tome given that he lacks an exclusive one. It allows Ricken to receive Atk/Res+5 on his first combat in a phase and heals him for 7 HP after combat.

In order to maximize this tome, position Ricken so that he only faces one enemy in combat per phase.

Well rounded base stats

Ricken's base stats are all well rounded and high for a demote unit. His base 43 Atk with a superboon allows him to hit hard, while his base 39 Spd is enough to avoid follow-up attacks if given investment.
