When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
Neutral IVs by default!
As a hero obtainable only through Tempest Trials, New Year Kyza will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
+Def/-Spd
New Year Kyza functions well as a physical tank, and his Def is high and is a superboon as well. This makes his role easy to fulfill.
His Spd is neither high enough to really fight the speediest units in the game, nor is it low enough to change his matchups.
Thus, we recommend +Def/Spd.
+Def for a +10 merge.
We recommend +Def for a +10 merged Kyza. +Atk also works if you prefer to have more damage.

This build uses premium Atk/Def skills to boost Kyza's Atk and Def stats, making him a bruiser unit capable of soaking damage while also dealing relevant damage on his attacks.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Polished Fang
Refined Polished Fang grants Kyza Atk/Def+6 and Spd/Res+5, bonus true damage and true damage reduction equal to 20% of his Def, Special cooldown charges per attack, a Guard effect, and 7 HP post-combat healing.
Refined Polished Fang also inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 onto all foes within 3 rows and 3 columns, neutralizes their bonuses, and forces them to suffer guaranteed follow-up attacks in combat.
While refined Polished Fang isn't as impactful as other refined weapons, it has everything it needs to make New Year Kyza a viable unit if given proper investment.

New Year Kyza Roles
New Year Kyza is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
New Year Kyza Strengths
Polished Fang suits Kyza's defensive playstyle!
Refined Polished Fang grants Kyza Atk/Def+6 and Spd/Res+5, bonus true damage and true damage reduction equal to 20% of his Def, Special cooldown charges per attack, a Guard effect, and 7 HP post-combat healing.
Refined Polished Fang also inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 onto all foes within 3 rows and 3 columns, neutralizes their bonuses, and forces them to suffer guaranteed follow-up attacks in combat.
Refined Polished Fang also retains the standard Beast Infantry transformation effects, granting Atk+2, +7 damage on Special trigger, and a Tempo effect.
While refined Polished Fang isn't as impactful as other refined weapons, it has everything it needs to make New Year Kyza a viable unit if given proper investment.
High Def and Good Skillset to Complement
New Year Kyza has high base Def at 41, 45 with a superboon, and Close Def 3 plus Atk/Def Oath 3 to add on to his bulk.
This makes fulfilling his role as a tank easier!

Weak to Beast Effective Weapons
New Year Kyza takes 1.5x damage from beast-effective weapons like Brave Eliwood's Nini's Ice Lance or Picnic Flora's Sæhrímnir, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
