Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Def/-Res

The best IVs for Lukas are +Def and -Res. Lukas is not built to take blows from magic units to begin with so having some points off his Res would not weaken harm is viability significantly. With that, you should maximize his Def as much as possible as he is very strong in that side of defense.

Take note that his Res is a superbane so you should get that merge as fast as possible!

+Def for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Def IV when merging Lukas to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. He can reach an upwards of 45 Def if he chooses to rock this IV at max merges. If you prefer more offensive Lukas, go with a +Atk IV! His Def stat will still be pretty high regardless.

How to Use, Explanation

Get Lukas' spec. eff. refine then he's ready to tank physical units in the enemy phase! If you do not want to run Infantry Pulse 3, get a Drive, Hone or a Rouse skill. Steady Breath is one of the best Sacred Seals around! Lukas is able to make good use of it thanks to his natural role as a physical wall. Make sure to invest in this Seal if you plan to make use of Lukas in the long run! Take note that this build is strictly geared in the enemy phase. It might not be wise to initiate with Lukas when running this set. Just position him properly and get his supports in range!

How to Use, Explanation

This build is to counter Valentine's Chrom in Arena Assault by making Lukas a speedy tank. It works best with Lukas' Resplendent stats and having him at +Spd. Take the Spd refine for Piercing Tribute+ for more Spd stacking and to prevent Chrom from making follow-up attacks, making this fight purely a Spd check!

How to Use, Explanation

This is a speedy build for Lukas made possible with his Resplendent stats. Take the +Spd refine for Springy Lance for more Spd stacking, though you can also opt for Lofty Blossoms+ or Ninja Yari+ (both using the +Spd refine). With the Springy Lance+ refine, however, and assuming Lukas is +10 +Spd Resplendent and with all skills active, you can hit a whopping 61 Spd with him, which is quite impressive!

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Daybreak Lance

Taking Lukas' special effect refine gives him a built-in effect identical to Sturdy Stance 2. It is pretty straightforward and it is nothing really fancy, but it is a must get if Lukas is one of your main units. It helps him in his primary role as a physical wall and the +4 Atk is just a bonus whenever he is able to land a counterattack. Note that these bonuses are not available in the player phase.

Lukas is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Lukas Strengths

Lukas, a very sturdy physical tank

Lukas has a great physical defensive statline and skills like Fortress Def 3 to back it up! This makes him a clear candidate for your teams' frontline. Another innate attribute that makes him an effective tank is his weapon, a lance. Lance units are strong against the most common physical unit in the game, sword units. This allows him to defend against a fair range of foes! With some invesment, Lukas can solo through teams and maps where sword units are very prevalent.

Daybreak Lance speeds-up special activation

Lukas' weapon is Daybreak Lance, a more powerful version of Killer Lance+. It puts Sacred Cowl to a cooldown of 1. This makes Lukas extra resistant to bows and daggers while granting him some form of defense against tome users.

However, where it truly shines is when Lukas inherits an offensive special such as Bonfire or Ignis. These two skills are deadly in the hands of Lukas as their effects leverages Lukas' huge Def stat. Having their cooldown reduced only makes them more lethal. We recommend inheriting one or the other as soon as possible!

Built-in Sturdy Stance 2 through his special effect refine

Daybreak Lance is not only an upgraded Killer Lance+ with additional Mt, but it also has access to a special effect refine. The refine grants Lukas a built-in effect identical to Sturdy Stance 2. It goes well with Quick Riposte 3 as both combined allows Lukas to hit hard in the enemy phase and have extra durability simultaneously. If Lukas gets access to Bonfire or Ignis and either skill activates in the enemy phase, he will deal monstrous amounts of damage to the enemy.

Obstruct 3 can be used to protect allies

Obstruct limits enemy movement for as Lukas is at least at 50% HP. This synergizes well with Lukas' role as a tank as this means he is always in the frontlines. Lukas being in the frontline protects his allies from getting taken out. The enemy team needs to get through him first and if they are physical attackers, they are not going through Lukas with ease.

This skill is perfect for modes like Grand Hero Battles where losing a unit means defeat or modes like Arena where losing units means a decreased score.

Lukas Weaknesses

Very weak to magic attackers

Contrary to his Def, his Res is very weak. His base Res is 17 and what makes the situation worse is his base Spd of 22. Even moderately fast red mages can easily take him out with an easily earned follow-up attack. His only defense against mages is his Daybreak Lance-powered Sacred Cowl. However, even that skill is not recommended to keep on him as it does not help with his other weakness—offense.

Make sure to position him well in relation to units that can easily take him out. This way, you preserve Lukas' vitality allowing him to wreak havoc on the physical front of the enemy team.

Lackluster offenses

While Lukas boasts monstrous physical defenses, the same cannot be said about his offense. He does not have skills that are directly oriented to offense. Even his special skill, Sacred Cowl, is defensively oriented. Since Obstruct 3 is very niche, we recommend replacing it with Quick Riposte 3. This skill directly synergizes well with his special effect refine allowing Lukas to hit hard in the enemy phase.

Another way to increase his offensive ability is to replace his special skill with either Bonfire or Ignis. These two specials leverages his huge Def stat and converts them into damage. Be wary as Sacred Cowl is his only way of defending against tome attacks! Pick Lukas' match-ups properly to fully make use of his strengths.
