When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Def/-Spd

Oboro's best IVs are +Def and -Spd. Since she is mainly a physical wall, getting a +Def IV makes the most sense! Her Spd is very unreliable and it would not protect her from much follow-up attacks to being with so it is the best bane you can take. Make sure to get a merge as soon as possible, though!

If you prefer a more offensive oriented Oboro, you can get a +Atk IV instead. This maximizes the damage multiplier against armored units from her weapons!

+Def for a +10 Merge Project

If you are trying to build a +10 Merge Oboro, +Def is the best IV. With a +10 merge, Oboro's Def reaches 42, which is very plenty. It allows her to wall a wide range of physical units!

At +10 merges, you can still go for a +Atk IV for the same reasons as above.

How to Use, Explanation

This set adds upon the defense provided by Oboro's Spear, and takes it to another level. Null Follow-Up 3 provides some tankiness too, but another important function of it is to make sure Quick Riposte 3 always triggers. Atk/Def Menace is very expensive so feel fre to replace it with similar skills.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Oboro's Spear

Taking Oboro's special effect refine gives her a built-in effect identical to Distant Def 3. It is pretty straightforward and it is nothing really fancy, but it is a must get if Oboro is one of your main units. It helps her in her primary role as a physical wall as the bonuses will help her defend against attacks better. Note that these bonuses are not available in the player phase. The fact that the units that Distant Def 3 covers are the most common makes it even better!

Oboro is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Oboro Strengths

Her weapons are strong against armored units

Oboro's most powerful weapons, the Heavy Spear+ and Oboro's Spear are effective against armored units. These weapons combined with her fair Atk stat and a +Atk IV, makes her a formidable threat to armored units.

As discussed in the weapon refine section, Oboro's Spear can grant a built-in effect identical to Close Def 3. This is definitely a must-get if Oboro is one of your main units!

Heroes with Effective Skills

High physical Def

Though Oboro is an infantry unit, her Def is at the level of an armored unit! In fact, she sports a base Def of 35 at Lv. 40. Her Spd is quite low, so she will face lots of follow-up attacks. Be prepared for that. However, her Def level is good enough to survive a wide range of follow-up attacks!

Can fill-in as a support with her base kit!

Oboro possesses an assist skill in Rally Defense and debuff skills in Seal Def Res 3 and Threaten Res 3. This allows her to provide all kinds of support to both physical and magic units. This makes her a valuable utility unit even at her base form!

Even if she chooses to use Rally Defense in the player phase, Seal Def 3 can still work if she lands a counterattack in the enemy phase. As for Threaten Res 3, it will be active regardless if she chooses to attack or use her assist skill!

Oboro Weaknesses

Low Spd

Oboro has somewhat low Spd. This makes her susceptible to follow-up attacks and makes it hard for her to score follow-up attacks. We suggest inheriting Quick Riposte 3 to allow her to score follow-up attacks in the enemy phase.

You can also go for a +Spd IV if you really value it, but we prefer +Def and +Atk IVs on this unit.

Low Res

Oboro's Res only sits at 24 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for magic users to take her out. Be mindful of Oboro's positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take her out. When compared with other lance physical tanks, Oboro has one of the best Res stats. You can also improve her Res against dragonstones through the special effect refine!

It can be said that Oboro is not completely defenseless against the magic department.
