As a hero obtainable only through Tempest Trials, New Year Laegjarn will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Spd/-Res

The best IVs for New Year Laegjarn are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows New Year Laegjarn to get a ton of follow-up attacks on her foes. It also protects her from hostile follow-up attacks. Her Res is of less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging New Year Laegjarn to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, she can reach 42 Spd which is at a range wherein she can score lots of follow-up attacks if she has ample support from allies.

New Year Laegjarn is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Strong Against Physical Attacks

New Year Laegarn sports 35 for both Spd and Def stats. This makes her very durable even for physical users with average to high Spd! She is one of the best cavalry units when it comes to physical bulk. Make use of this strength by her squaring-up with physical units while avoiding magic users!

Debuff the Bulkiest Units on the Opposite Team

Chill Res 3 inflicts -7 Res on the enemy unit with the highest Res This is very important, as it makes one of the bulkiest enemies a bit more manageable. Additionally, Wagasa+ has the effect of Chill Def 3 built-in which has the same effects, but it targets the unit with the highest Def and inflicts the penalty in that said stat.

Another quirk of Chill Res 3 and Wagasa+ is that they affect enemies regardless of where New Year Laegjarn is. A -7 Def/Res debuff that is always active cannot be underestimated.

Wide Range Buff for Def

Def Tactic 3 grants +6 Def to allies within 2 spaces if the number of the ally's movement type in the team is ≤ 2. This makes New Year Laegjarn a good unit in mixed teams.
