When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Def/-Spd

Sophia's best IVs are +Def and -Spd. A +Def IV will help Sophia fulfill her role as a tanky unit. Her weapon grants her an advantage against colorless units so this IV will help her square-up with powerful colorless bows and dagger users. Her Spd is very low and it is not really important for her so it is safe to take it as a bane at this point.

+Def for a +10 Merge Project

We recommend taking a +Def IV when merging Sophia to +10. With a +Def +10 merge, she will reach 35 Def which can be increased through getting a resplendent outfit which puts her Def to 37!

How to Use, Explanation

This skill build leverages the enemy phase abilities of Eternal Tome to build a full-on enemy phase tank build for Sophia. You can use any other Smoke skill in the C slot, and since Close Counter is pretty rare, you can go for Stance skills instead.

How to Use, Explanation

An Owl-type build that promises Sophia great performance in both phases as long as the Owl tome is fully utilized. Glacies will hit hard because of the ensuing surplus in Res. Quick Riposte 3 is picked up so she can score follow-up attacks in the enemy phase. Take note that you can get any Smoke skill of choice of the Passive C. You can get the very cheap Fury 3 if you cannot get Fury 4. Renewal 3 will make up for the damage Fury deals to Sophia.

The special refine effect for Sophia's Eternal tome grants a built-in effect similar to Bracing Stance. The Bracing Stance combined with the Raven effect makes Sophia a great match-up for colorless foes.

Sophia is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Sophia Strengths

Weapon Weapon-Triangle Advantage Against Colorless Units

Sophia's Eternal Tome grants wepon-triangle advantage against colorless foes and inflicts weapon-triangle disadvantage against said foes. While it is pretty easy to take advantage of the offensive benefit from this, it is actually the defensive perk that are much more important to Sophia's playstyle. Since she is a mixed tank, the defensive benefit is very important for her as it makes her a nightmare for colorless units.

Additionally, Eternal Tome also grants +4 Def/Res to her in combat if foe initiates combat. This further helps her in fulfilling her role as a mixed tank.

High Defenses

Sophia's Def and Res stat sit at 28 and 29 respectively. This allows her to tank a wide range of units in the game. The only weakness in her defenses is her very low Spd of 19. As much as possible, avoid engaging with fast blue units as their follow-up attacks are sure to take her out.

In addition to her stats, her refined weapon skill and Warding Blow 3 also adds to her defenses. This makes her a very good tank especially against magic units.

Good at Tanking Adaptive Damage

Since Sophia's defensive skills differ only by 1 value, she is not at a disadvantage when being attacked by foes with skills that use adaptive damage. Adaptive damage is when they calculate damage using the lower of Sophia's Def or Res. Because of this, Sophia can be used to counter a lot of dragonstone characters, as they very common users of adaptive damage. If you plan on Sophia to fill this specific niche, consider inherting Close Counter onto her.

Sophia Weaknesses

Low Spd

Sophia has very low Spd. This makes her susceptible to follow-up attacks. Be wary of units that can take her down. Only engage those whom Sophia can tank using her high defensive stats. If possible, never engage blue units with Sophia as she would not be able to do anything significant against them.

Requires Investment to be Effective

Other than her weapon, her skills are pretty lackluster especially when compared to newer generation units. If you plan on using her in competitve modes such as Aether Raids, consider inheriting strong skills onto her. Some other ways you can improve Sophia's power is through unlocking her potential, merging, and using dragonflowers.

Sophia does not possess any skills that are worth inheriting onto another unit. We recommend training and investing in her instead. If you get multiple copies of her, you can aim for a +10 merge Sophia or send her home for some Hero Feathers.

Even a 4★ +10 Sophia is a great unit! Consider the pros and cons of making a 4★ +10 Sophia versus a 5★ +10! Take note that a 4★ +10 is equivalent to a 5★ +5 stat wise.
