Capricorn Cup Event Release Date

Capricorn Cup
Champions Meeting: Capricorn Cup
Mid-February 2026

The Capricorn Cup will start in Mid-February 2026. Like with previous Champions Meetings, the first few days will likely be for registration, with the actual races happening a few days later.

Capricorn Cup Race Course Map

Race Conditions:
Chukyo Turf 1,200m (Sprint), Left
Winter Icon Winter, Snowy Icon Snowy, Soft Ground

Similar Races: Takamatsunomiya Kinen
Course Notes
Entire late-race is on a straight. Late-race skills that work on corners like Angling and Scheming and Let's Pump Some Iron will not activate. Moving Past, and Beyond and Shooting for Victory! will likely activate too early to be useful. Straight acceleration skills should be very good for this track. Red Shift/LP1211-M can be usable for Late/End styles.
・Track has a very long downhill. Theoretically, Straight Descent can be powerful if it activates right as late-race starts, but the length of the downhill makes it too random and unreliable. High Wit is necessary to be competitive.
・Track has an uphill immediately after the downhill. Highlander can be usable, but it activates late.
Triple 7s will activate at 423m, which is in the first corner of mid-race.

Limited Sprinter Options

The Capricorn Cup is the first Sprint Champions Meeting. As of January 2026, the options for Sprint-focused runners are currently very limited. Of these, Sakura Bakushin O is the most accessible runner and will likely appear in every race. Curren Chan and Hishi Akebono are also Sprint specialists and should be competitive for this race. King Halo is another F2P option, but she can be difficult to use due to a lack of good innate Sprint skills and an inconsistent unique skill.

Other Aces Require Several Sparks

D 7
E 10

G 16

If you want to use other aces for the Capricorn Cup, you'll need to provide Sprint sparks for them to reach at least A aptitude. Smart Falcon can be a strong runner for the race, too, but will need Turf sparks instead. Make sure to check your Uma's spark aptitude to know how many sparks you'll need to make them viable.

Prio: ★
Blue Sparks Init. Stats 9★ STA, 9★ PWR

ⓘ Prioritize maximizing stats in this order: Stamina Stamina > Speed Speed > Wit Wit > Power Power > Guts Guts.
┗ Make sure you can at least reach the baselines for Stamina and Guts to avoid losing speed before reaching the end of the race.

Since Stamina is less of an issue with Sprint races, it's best to focus on maximizing Speed and Wit for this race. The Soft conditions will also require high enough Power to stay competitive.

Best to Train in Unity Cup Scenario

Unity Cup (Aoharu Hai)

The best scenario to train for the Capricorn Cup is the Unity Cup. While you can still train in the URA Finale Scenario, the Unity Cup offers higher stats and gives easy access to No Stopping Me!, making it the ideal way to train your aces.

Stats boosted by these Green Skills are hinted at in their skill icons. For example, Right-Handed shows boots, which means it boosts the Speed stat, Firm Conditions buffs Power, and Front Runner Savvy improves Wit. Aim for these skills to further increase your stats.

End Closer Icon End

For the Capricorn Cup, acceleration skill options are somewhat limited. End Closers can reliably use Straightaway Spurt, but others may have to use skills with random activation. All styles can use Rushing Gale! or Turbo Sprint, but with the risk of activating too early or too late. Late Surgers can pick up On Your Left! or Red Shift from Maruzensky, and Pace-Chasers can use Head-On or Give Mummy a Hug from Halloween Super Creek. No Stopping Me! is somewhat inconsistent here, considering the late-race starts after the final corner, but it's still the strongest option available if you're willing to gamble on it.

Front Runners cannot use Angling and Scheming on this race, so they'll need to pull away early with Groundwork and Taking the Lead. Victoria por plancha is the late acceleration skill of choice for Front Runners due to easily satisfying the conditions.

As usual, take any mid-race velocity skills you can afford for the rest of the skills, leaning more toward corner skills.

The Capricorn Cup is a very short race, so it shouldn't be too difficult to hit the required stamina. For racers like Summer Maruzensky who need to activate a recovery skill, you only need to learn white recoveries. This should allow you to use your skill points on other skills. Most aces don't need to learn any recovery at all.

Capricorn Cup Red Skills

Red Skills

Debuffs aren't particularly strong in the Capricorn Cup. The Stamina requirement isn't too high, so All-Seeing Eyes and Stop Right There! won't be as impactful. Curren Chan uniquely has access to Adored by All, but its effect isn't very noticeable either.

Support Cards above have been categorized based on what role they can supplement in the Capricorn Cup.

Above are our recommendations for Support Cards to build your Umamusume for the Capricorn Cup Champions Meeting. These are chosen based on their skills and stats.

This time around, you can focus on maximizing Speed and Wit while maintaining a good amount of Power. Guts is also somewhat more important here as it can act as a tiebreaker stat.

Aim to get Straightaway Spurt as a spark. You may replace Tazuna with a different card if needed.

Above are sample deck setups you can try for training your Umamusume for the Capricorn Cup. Remember to swap cards if they conflict with your trainee, and note that the randomized nature of Career runs means you'll have to make multiple runs until you get a desirable career result.

Since this is a Sprint race, you'll want to maximize both Speed and Wit by having at least 2 of each card in your deck. You also opt to add a strong Guts card like Haru Urara (Bestest Prize) or a Pal card like Tazuna Hayakawa or Riko Kashimoto (or both) to make runs go more smoothly.

Also aim to hit at least 34 race bonus, as this maximizes stat gains during career races. If you can't hit this, try to use high or max uncapped cards instead, as these will provide better stats overall.
