Space Marine 2’s Latest Update Brings the Techmarine & a New PvE Mission
Techmarine as the New Playable Class
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s latest update, Patch 12.0, introduces the game’s seventh playable class, the Techmarine. According to the patch notes posted on Focus Interactive’s website, the Techmarine is a technician who "specialises in crowd control and area defense." This allows players to act as a hybrid of offense and defense in tight spaces, making the class ideal against the game’s swarms of Tyranids and Chaos hordes.
The Techmarine comes equipped with its signature Omnissian Axe, a large, electric-powered melee weapon capable of severing multiple enemies at once thanks to its wide, sweeping attacks. Further enhancing the axe grants additional armor after a kill, as well as increasing its overall damage potential.

Beyond its melee-focused arsenal, the Techmarine is also equipped to deal with threats at range. The Servo Gun serves as its primary support tool, automatically firing at nearby enemies. It can even perform Gun Strikes, providing valuable assistance when players are overwhelmed by enemy swarms.
The Omnissian Axe and Servo Gun are not the only tools a Techmarine has at its disposal. In addition to its robust kit, the class can activate Tarantula Sentry turrets found throughout mission maps, which can support players with covering fire until they run out of ammunition or are destroyed.
Patch 12.0’s Additional Free Content

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s latest patch also introduces a breadth of new content, including a new Operation, cosmetics, and DLC that are now available in the game.
The new PvE mission, Disruption, launches alongside the Techmarine update. Set on the hive planet of Avarax, the mission follows the Ultramarines as they push through the sprawling city, facing both Tyranid swarms and Chaos forces.
Like other PvE missions, Disruption features largely linear level design, with difficulty determined by player choice. Higher difficulty settings offer greater rewards, while lower difficulties provide more modest payouts.

The update also includes several quality-of-life improvements for PvE content. One such addition is the new "Restorative Stimms," which provide immediate minor healing and a larger health recovery over time. This new item will encourage more aggressive playstyles in the game’s 12 major PvE missions.
Players can also now create private matches with any of the game’s 20 "battlefield conditions," modifiers that add extra challenge. Private matches allow full customization of these conditions, though rewards cannot be earned in these sessions.
New Paid DLC Cosmetics for Space Marine Fans

Patch 12.0 also introduces new cosmetic content for its $40 Season Pass holders: the Raven Guard Champion Pack and Carcharodons Chapter Pack.
The Raven Guard Champion Pack, inspired by the stealth-focused Space Marine Chapter, includes a new Bolt Pistol skin and Assault Champion cosmetics. The Carcharodons Chapter Pack adds two helmets, left and right pauldrons, and a chestplate, each modeled after the mysterious and elusive, shark-themed Carcharodons Space Marine Chapter.
