All 5 Available Classes

There are five classes in Dune: Awakening, namely the Bene Gesserit, Mentat, Swordmaster, Trooper, and Planetologist, but only four starting classes to choose from. You can't change your class after character creation, but the game's class system is flexible enough that class choice will only affect minor things and won't affect skills or builds in the long run.

Class Choice Affects Starting Ability, Gesture, and Minor Dialogue

Dune Awakening Classes - Which Class
Dune: Awakening's class system is pretty flexible, and your class choice doesn't really have any major effects to the story or your build late-game.

Your starting class determines your first ability and skill tree, but you'll be able to unlock all class skill trees through trainers as you progress the game.

Class choice also determines your unique gesture and gives minor changes to dialogue, like your homeworld and caste choices.

Which Class Should You Pick?

The Class Best Suited to Your Playstyle

Since you'll eventually unlock all skill trees, you should just pick the class with starting abilities most suited to your desired gameplay. Here's a cheat sheet of how each class plays:

Class Choice Gameplay Explained
Bene Gesserit:
Best for Crowd Control.
This class can be gratifying, but challenging to master. It specializes in turning every advantage in your favor. Its starting skill, Compel, lets you manipulate enemies early on.
Mentat:
Best for Ranged Combat.
This class rewards precise and calculated strikes. It focuses on strategic positioning and ability placement. lts starting skill, The Sentinel, is great for taking control of the battle.
Swordmaster:
Best for Close Combat
Simple and straight to the point, this class excels at close range combat. Your starting skill, Knee Charge, embodies this perfectly as it allows you to rush towards enemies and straight into the action.
Trooper:
Best for Beginners
This class is best for beginners thanks to its straightforward playstyle and ranged combat capabilities. Its starting skill, Shigawire Claw, offers excellent mobility, letting you quickly close the gap or retreat from danger. Highly versatile and accessible through early quests, this class provides a well-rounded foundation for new players.
