Attention! |
This tier list mostly focuses on rating classes based on their kit and how effective they are as a starting class. Players can unlock the skill trees of other classes through trainers, so they are not tied to a specific class. |

| Rank | Class | |

| Note: This tierlist has been updated based on the initial impressions of the classes. Do note that the rankings are subject to change as we test each classes thoroughly! | ||
The Best Starting Class is either the Bene Gesserit or Mentat, as these two classes offer good early-game benefits with their skill trees, and the starting abilities of both classes offer great utility when starting.
Bene Gesserit offers satisfying gameplay through good melee damage and enemy manipulation. Mentat, on the other hand, offers excellent utility for both solo and group gameplay through surveillance and team-wide buffs.
At the end of the day, any class can work well depending on the player. Although this tier list is meant to show which classes are ideal to invest on in general, we highly recommend starting with any class you want!
| Skill Trees | Considers the skill trees of the class and its usefulness in the early stages of the game. |
|---|---|
| Survivability | Considers the class' survivability to absorb and tank damage while fighting enemies and exploring Arrakis. |
| Damage | Considers the damage provided by the class' skills, including passives, abilities, and techniques. |
| Early Game | Considers the viability of the class during the early stages of the game, including the usefulness of the initial skill tree accessible by the class. |
| Late Game | Considers the viability of the class in the later stages of the game. |
Skill Trees, Survivability, Damage, Early Game, and Late Game viability are factors used as criteria in ranking the different classes in Dune: Awakening.
| Class | Rating | Tier |

Skill Trees: ★★★ Survivability: ★★★★ Damage: ★★★★ Early Game: ★★ Late Game: ★★★★★ |
Bene Gesserit can take a while to get used to, but the class provides unique benefits for both PvP and PvE. This class is great at manipulation and deception, being able to control the battlefield in PvE content.
In the Weirding Way Skill Tree, Bene Gesserits' ability to pick off enemies is significantly increased. Weirding Step is a notable ability in the game for assassinating enemies, and Bindu Sprint aids in traversal.
Once you get used to the gameplay, it is highly rewarding when used properly. It gives players unique resistances to damage and excels at debuffing enemies, making it a great option to start with.

Skill Trees: ★★★★ Survivability: ★★★ Damage: ★★★★ Early Game: ★★★★ Late Game: ★★★★ |
Mentat is another strong class to choose from when starting the game. It provides great ranged damage and area control due to The Sentinel skill, which places a turret that provides area coverage against enemies. As a starting class, Mentat players can play relatively safe because of their ranged playstyle. In addition, players can clear most of the early content with just their turret's damage.
The class is also quite versatile and scales well into the late game as some of the skills in its class trees increase damage for ranged weapons and poison, generate power for nearby allies, and deploy traps to discover and slow enemies.

Skill Trees: ★★★★ Survivability: ★★ Damage: ★ Early Game: ★ Late Game: ★★★★★ |
While Planetologist isn't available as a starting class, it is one of the best classes in the late game. It provides improvements to resource management and land traversal, being more utility-oriented as a class.
Under the Scientist and Mechanic skill tree, Planetologists can experience increased yields for resources by up to 40%. Furthermore, the Mechanic skill tree provides improvements to vehicle utility.
Players will also significantly benefit from the Explorer tree as it offers drastic changes to mechanics in the game, such as the ability to create area sinkcharts, hydration capture improvements, and spice bed density recognition. These skills excel in the late game and are worth getting in the later stages.

Skill Trees: ★★★ Survivability: ★★★★ Damage: ★★★★ Early Game: ★★★ Late Game: ★★★ |
Swordmaster is a great melee-focused class due to its innate buffing and damage-dealing capabilities that most players will benefit from. Its three skill trees fit the archetype well as The Blade offers improvements to melee weapon damage, The Will provides damage mitigation and defense, and The Way improves your character's healing and physical ability.
In general, the class offers great melee damage and survivability buffs. Its starting ability, Knee Charge, can act as both a mobility tool and a damaging ability. Due to this, it's a great class if you love dynamic, fast-paced gameplay.

Skill Trees: ★★★ Survivability: ★★★ Damage: ★★★★ Early Game: ★★★ Late Game: ★★ |
The Trooper Class is one of the most balanced classes in the game due to it having both damage and utility in its skill trees. It provides good stats, and its skill trees are beneficial throughout the different stages of the game.
One of the most useful early game abilities can be found in the Tactical Tech skill tree of the class. Shigawire Claw has great utility for traversing, while also staggering enemies in combat.
The only reason this class is not ranked higher in the tier list is because players will have access to the Trooper Trainer fairly early on in the game, so it would be more beneficial to pick a class that can be found much later on.
| Beginners | Swordmaster / Trooper * |
|---|---|
| Solo Gameplay | Swordmaster |
| Group Gameplay | Mentat |
| PvE Usefulness | Planetologist |
| PvP Usefulness | Mentat |
| Endgame Viability | Bene Gesserit |
| * The Trooper Mentor can be found early in the game, so you can choose other classes to go with instead. That being said, Trooper is a good class for its high damage and simple gameplay. | |
The best classes to start with are Trooper and Swordmaster. The Trooper has one of the best mobility abilities in the game, making traversal and exploration easy. Meanwhile, the Swordmaster is also ideal for beginners as they are balanced when it comes to combat and survivability.
The Swordmaster is an excellent choice for solo play. The class is not only easy to learn but also has strong, straightforward skills that do not rely on complex mechanics or gimmicks.
The Mentat is highly valuable in group play due to its versatility and ability to control the battlefield. Its abilities to support with turrets and mines makes it one of the most sought after classes in coop.
In PvE, the Planetologist stands out as one of the best options. It offers numerous quality of life passives that make resource gathering and desert exploration much more manageable.
The Mentat excels in PvP thanks to its ability to control the battlefield with turrets and various mines. It can severely restrict enemy movement, making it difficult for opponents to advance or gain advantage.
The Bene Gesserit is considered the strongest endgame class. Its powerful abilities require mastery of the game's mechanics. While it has a learning curve, it offers exceptional performance once mastered.
