You can get an ornithopter early in the game by efficiently gathering and crafting the different ornithopter parts in Dune: Awakening. See how to get an ornithopter fast, the different types of ornithopters, and a list of parts and recipes here!

| Note: We recommend completing the Vermillius Gap questline before aiming to craft an ornithopter. |
The amount of materials needed to craft an ornithopter is tremendous and would need a lot of farming. Here's a step-by-step guide to craft your first ornithopter efficiently:
The first step to crafting your ornithopter efficiently is to set a base on the Eastern Shield Wall or the Jabal Eifrit Al-Ghrab. This will ensure that you're in the middle of all the resources you need to craft an ornithopter.
Once you get your base setup, it's time to gather extensive amounts of water, about 70000 liters, to craft both facilities and the ornithopter itself. The best way to get the water you need is to gather water from enemies and purify it using multiple blood purifiers.
It's recommended to craft and use a Blood Extractor MK2 and Medium Blood Sacks to get as much blood as possible. Target enemy outposts and camps to get blood fast. Make sure to return immediately to your base to start purifying them, as this can take a while.
Dew Reapers and Windtraps are also good ways to reach the amount of water needed to craft your ornithopter. Windtraps, albeit requiring more materials to craft, can passively get you water, while Dew Repears can get you a decent amount of water when used during optimal window times.
Your next step is to get 134 Cobalt Pastes and 88 Complex Machineries, which, on top of being a requirement to craft the ornithopter itself, is needed to craft the Medium Ore Refinery and Vehicle Fabricator. These are facilities that you would need to refine aluminum and craft ornithopter parts, respectively.
You can get the Cobalt Paste by mining the pink glowing Erythrite Ores in the Hagga Rift, while Complex Machineries can be obtained by looting machineries inside Enemy Outposts or Mining Outposts in the Vermillius Gap.
Note that you would also need 160 Steel Ingots to craft both machines!
After crafting the Medium Ore Refinery, your next task is to start refining Aluminum Ingots as this would also take a long amount of time given the number of ingots you need, around 241 (Mandatory). You can farm a ton of Aluminum Ores near the Wreck of Alecto in the Western Shield Wall.
How to Get Aluminum Ore and Locations
Once your Aluminum Ores are being refined, head to the Mysa Tarill to get Diamondine Dusts and Carbide Scraps. You can find these materials inside chests located around the ruins. You would need 14 Diamondine Dusts and 7 Carbide Scraps in total.
Once you've acquired all of the previously mentioned materials, you can now turn your attention to gathering the remaining resources you need, which are 46 Advanced Servoks, 30 Particle Capacitors, and 8 Industrial Pumps. The first two of the remaining materials, the Advanced Servoks and Particle Capacitors, can easily be acquired by looting Testing Stations across the Hagga Basin.
The difficult one to obtain would be the Industrial Pumps, which would require you to raid and loot the Sentinel City or shipwrecks.
As an alternative to looting the difficult materials to gather, such as Diamondine Dust, Carbide Scraps, and Industrial Pumps, you can opt to farm Solari and visit the merchant at The Crossroads Tradepost to buy them. Note that this is only a recommended method if RNG isn't on your side and you only need a few pieces of materials to start crafting.
The last step to get your ornithopter is to craft all the parts and start assembling them using a welding torch! After assembling your ornithopter, don't forget to fuel up!
Since the scout ornithopter is the fastest and most mobile ornithopter, we recommend using it to traverse' Dune: Awakening's map.
Since the assault ornithopter has a lot of armor and can carry more people compared to a scout ornithopter, we recommend bringing one for PVP combat.
Since the carrier ornithopter can carry a sandcrawler or a buggy, the carrier ornithopter is best used for resource gathering.

I got one relatively fast. I haven't seen anyone else from early access with one yet. It's more water than they are letting on. When I got to steel, I kept getting water capped over being mineral capped. So, I built a wind trap which seems like 6ml of water every 5 seconds. 1 Aluminum costs 200ml of water, so I set up 5 windtraps before even making the ornithopter. For the aluminum, it spawns around the Pinnacle Station Trading Post and the other stuff the crossroads. Stay Hydrated.
