This is a Crafting Guide to help you survive Arrakis in Dune: Awakening. Learn more about how to make items, resource gathering, where to craft, and more in this guide!
Crafting is a major aspect in Dune: Awakening as it is integral to progress through the tools needed to survive living in the harsh lands of Arrakis.
Players must go through the tedious process of collecting materials and refining them to be turned into usable items. These items can be crafted in certain stations, so look for the correct one to lessen time wasted while exploring.

Gathering resources is the first step in the crafting process. Players must collect the necessary materials beforehand, which can then be turned into useful items later on.

In the later stages of the game, players should start utilizing harvesters and tools to streamline the process of collecting raw materials for crafting.
Tools such as the Cutteray and extractors can be used to assist you in getting materials.
There are also equipment in the game that can be deployed to automate your resource gathering. Harvesters can collect various resources and are crucial in the late game.
Take note that there are limitations to a player's storage capacity. You should pay attention to this and take only what you need to save space for more important stuff when exploring.

One of the ways to collect materials is to defeat enemies on the battlefield. NPCs and players drop items, with some materials only being collectible through enemies and raids.
Make sure to be wary, however, as you can also be a target of other players for loot.
The next step of crafting in Dune: Awakening is the refinement of raw materials. Raw materials must be refined and processed for them to be used in crafting.

Processing raw materials is a timely process and should be considered when traversing the lands of Arrakis. There are several processing methods depending on the raw material, so make sure to use the right machinery to refine items.
For example, Blood can be purified into Water, which is an essential resource for crafting and exploration in general.
Refining materials is an essential step in crafting and should not be taken lightly. Item storage can be quite tedious, especially in the early game. Pay attention to which resources should be kept when refining items.

Fabricators are the main machinery used to craft items in Dune: Awakening. While there is a General Fabricator for simple items, there are specialized Fabricators used to create unique items in the game.

Items will indicate which Fabricators can be used to create such items. Check which Fabricators can craft the item in the recipes.

Chests, Refineries, and Fabricators all have Circuits. Under the Storage tab, you will find 2 circuit tabs. The circuit on the left is where resources will come from, while the one on the right determines where it goes.
This system allows you to form a flow of production that can save you time by organizing resources. Here's a sample set up to process ores in an orderly way:
| Chest 1 | Circuit 1 | Circuit 1 |
|---|---|---|
| Ore Refinery | Circuit 1 | Circuit 2 |
| Chest 2 | Circuit 2 | Circuit 1 |
This layout assumes that all your ores are in Chest 1. Once you process the ores through your refinery, the finished ingot should be found in Chest 2.

Before you produce anything, make sure the storage of your refinery or fabricator is full by placing something like one piece of Salvaged Metal for each storage space. If the storage is not full, the refinery or fabricator will act like a chest and store the finished product. Keeping the storage full will ensure the finished product goes to the chest you want it to.
Players may obtain crafting recipes through Quests. Certain quests will give you more than just resources, so try to do them whenever possible.

In the Research tab, players can obtain crafting recipes by researching schematics. These schematics cost intel, but will indicate the necessary materials needed before crafting.
You can browse for the materials needed and where to craft them before unlocking to save time and resources.
Crafting recipes can be traded with NPCs and players. This is a unique way to progress faster in the game with other players.
Some NPCs will also allow you to trade items for crafting recipes, so take note of them when exploring Arrakis!
