The best place to farm Carbon Ore is located in Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub region. It's recommended that you bring a Buggy or an Ornithopter to get through the area fast and be able to store large amounts of Carbon Ore.
If you have the resources, you can also create a small forward base that you can use to store the Carbon Ore and be safe from events such as Coriolis Storms or just have a safe place where you can log out from.

You can use the tools listed above to obtain the Carbon Ore from its ore deposit.
Another way to obtain the Carbon Ore is by purchasing it through an in-game player-controlled auction house called the Exchange. You can find the Exchange in Social Hubs like Arrakeen and Harko Village.
Do note that prices and availability of the item in the Exchange will vary from world to world as the market is dependent on what the players are listing for sale.
You can also directly trade with other players to get Carbon Ore. You can trade with your friends, guild members, and even other players on your server.
Trading is generally safe to do in most areas aside from open sands and areas where PvP is enabled, like Shipwrecks and most of the areas in the Deep Desert. Make sure to exercise caution when trading with players you don’t know to avoid getting scammed!

Carbon Ore is used to create Steel Ingots. You will need to use 4x Carbon Ore and x1 Iron Ingot just to craft a single Steel Ingot.
To use fewer resources to create Steel Ingots, It's recommended that you build larger Ore Refineries. This also cuts back some time to refine the Carbon Ore.
