The Yellow Sazabi is a Yellow-type Generic mobile suit whose strengths lie in its very high beam damage, bullseye status effect, damage cap increase, and 66% life steal. It also has a powerful EX skill that deals 693% ATK as damage, while dealing an additional 390% that bypasses defenses, on top of granting a 60% damage buff.

On top of all these advantages, the Yellow Sazabi comes complete with weapons for long, mid, and close-range combat. Right when the battle begins, it gets to fire off its long-range Funnels (Irradiate) from a good distance, instantly dealing a chunk of damage. All of its weapons get amped up to deal up to 180% more beam damage, and 2 out of three of its weapons hit multiple times, with the only exception being its melee weapon, the Beam Saber. All these skills complement one another, and as a result, the Sazabi is a high-damage unit that can stay alive by life-stealing and can deal with even the most evasive of threats for the first 18 seconds of combat.

It may be an extremely well-rounded unit with few weaknesses and counters. But this article will list out the weaknesses and counters we know of that you can exploit to consistently beat this powerhouse of a mobile suit.

Yellow Sazabi Weaknesses

Can't Deal With Evasion After 18 Seconds

One of the biggest flaws of Yellow Sazabi is its lack of accuracy after the 18-second mark, which is when its bullseye buff deactivates. That said, if the Sazabi fails to deal with evasive threats by then, it might just be in trouble. It has no accuracy buffs whatsoever to help its case.

Weak To Absolute Evade

Units with Absolute Evade are one of the Sazabi's few weaknesses. This is for the same reason as the other weakness we just discussed, which is its lack of accuracy. When Bullseye goes against absolute evade, both are canceled out and it comes down to accuracy vs evasion, a battle the Sazabi often does not win.

Weak Before it Stacks its Damage Buffs

Out of the Sazabi's 4 beam damage buffs, only one of those is activated right from the get-go. Two of them are stacking buffs while the last one is granted on EX skill activation, so it's at its weakest right when the battle begins. The maximum beam damage it can earn on its own by using its EX skill and getting its stacks to maximum is 180%, but it only starts off with just 36%. That said, giving it an unfavorable matchup and killing it early drastically improves your team's chances of winning since you'll be able to take it out before it ramps up in power and wreaks havoc on your team.

Because the Sazabi's lifesteal heals for a percentage of the damage it deals, the early part of the battle is also when it's most vulnerable, since its heals won't really amount to much.

Receives Bonus Damage From Purple-Type Units

The Sazabi is a Yellow-type mobile suit, so it receives bonus damage from Purple-type units. However, Purple-type mobile suits also receive bonus damage from Yellow-type units. Because the Yellow Sazabi is so strong, putting in a Purple-type to go head-to-head with it isn't always the smartest idea since more often than not the Sazabi will win if it has enough investments in it.

A good way to go about fighting the Sazabi is to have it face off against a counter or a tank while having a strong purple-type, or any other strong DPS unit attack it while it's preoccupied.

Yellow Sazabi Counters

Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Titania Icon[M0245] Titania

The Titania is a mobile suit with absolute evade, good amounts of evasion, a heal on evade mechanic, EX gauge on evade, and good melee and EX skill damage. It is one of the few units that can deal with the Sazabi reliably since it cancels out the Sazabi's Bullseye mechanic with its own absolute evade, and since the Sazabi is inaccurate without the Bullseye, the Titania will keep evading, healing, and spamming its EX skill while hitting it with its strong melee attacks.

While it doesn't have a type advantage over the Sazabi, the Titania is a nightmare matchup for one of the game's most dominant units.

Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Sazabi (Purple) Icon[M0336] Sazabi

Countering the Yellow Sazabi with its Purple counterpart is a good idea because it also deals huge amounts of damage, and more importantly, can stun the Yellow Sazabi, interrupting its life-steal ability and its attacks. This strategy works better when you place an Armored unit or Titania to attack the Sazabi first, and then have the Purple Sazabi somewhere else set to attack the Yellow-type by flanking, though it can definitely also win a head-to-head battle.

Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Penelope Icon[M0231] Penelope

The Penelope is the best defensive tank in the game and is good at fending off attacks from the Sazabi. Its high guard rate prevents it from taking big damage quickly, and its large HP pool and ability to heal upon taking damage mechanic make sure it stays alive for a while. It is one of the only few units that can last for long against the Sazabi, given how it can shrug off high-damage attacks like it's nothing.
