Total War features a few exclusive pilots that you can only obtain via the Total War Shop. Which one of them is best worth your hard-earned Total War Medals? Read on to learn about the different Total War pilots, what they bring to the table, and which one you could use the most.
List of Contents
Total War is a two-week-long recurring event where you'll find a 5x5 grid of mobile suits. These correspond to stages where you'll be pitted against teams of different power levels. It works similarly to the game Bingo in the sense that beating clearing 5 in a line, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, will reward you with Total War Medals. These Medals can be exchanged for different blueprints and character pieces. Among these, 3 UR pilots stand as the best options to spend your Total War Medals on. We'll be discussing the 3 in the following section below.

[C0185] Sleggar Law |
Sleggar is a very flexible pilot who can do well in any evasion-based Generic unit and Armored unit thanks to the evasion and guard rate that he grants to these units from these categories respectively. One Year War mobile suits are also granted 17% reaction, which improves both guard rate and evasion.
While he'll find value in most Generic units that rely on evasion and most Armored units, there are some mobile suits that can benefit from both the evasion/guard rate and reaction buffs as these are either Generic or Armored units that also fall under the One Year War unit category tag. These include the Gundam Full Armor (Thunderbolt), Pale Rider (Space Type), and Rick Dom (Thunderbolt).
If you need a pilot for the ones listed above or a Generic unit that needs evasion, Sleggar Law is probably your best bet. Do note, however, that if you need a pilot for Armored units outside the 2 mentioned above, you might be better off with Kelley Layzner, who we'll talk more about below.
[C0234] Kelley Layzner |
Kelley Layzner is an excellent substitute pilot for any Armored unit and an okay substitute pilot for Bombardment units.
He grants a 17% guard rate to all Armored units, just like Sleggar. However, his stacking resistance buff that maxes out at 35% is granted to all Heavy Armor units, which are all Armored units except the Over.On can benefit from. Outside of the FATB and Rick Dom TB, Armored units would benefit more from Kelley than Sleggar.
As for Bombardment units, Kelley grants Bombardment mobile suits 64% ranged sense, while also granting another 38% ranged sense to both One Year War and Delaz Conflict units. The former of which can be found in a few Bombardment MSs like the Psycho Zaku, G-3 Gundam, Johnny Ridden's Gelgoog, and Guncannon. Sadly, there aren't any Delaz Conflict Bombardment mobile suits. This means that the ones mentioned above get 102% more ranged sense, though the bonus isn't necessarily big, nor are the units particularly great.
If you need a substitute pilot for Armored units, know that Kelley is better than Sleggar in most cases, except when in the FATB and the Rick Dom TB. On the other hand, he's just an okay substitute pilot for Bombardment mobile suits.
[C0254] Bernard Monsha |
Bernard is an okay substitute pilot for Generic or Sniper MSs and is very flexible given the wide range of units he can offer buffs to. However, his buffs are quite similar to Kelley Layzner in the sense that they affect a wide range of units, but the buffs aren't necessarily strong. He grants units from both these categories only 64% ranged sense, as well as a 10% accuracy buff to both Mass-Produced and EFF-Affiliated mobile suits. The Mass-Produced unit category tag isn't very common among UR units while the EFF-Affiliated tag can be found in a good number of MSs, but not too many.
These buffs aren't very strong, but again, Bernard's flexibility gives him some value. The potency of his buffs makes him the worst out of the three Total War Pilots. Regardless, if you need an offensive pilot for Generic or Sniper mobile suits, consider using your Total War medals on Bernard Monsha.
The best way to use your hard-earned Total War Medals by far is to get the featured pilots to Potential Lv. 5. It won't impact the pilot's skills, though it'll give them a substantial boost by improving their stats across the board, making them even more formidable on the battlefield.
